Found in the plains and upwards of 1000m above sea level, these Spotted Deers are the most common and visible deer. With reddish-brown coat with white spots, the male and female are almost similar except the male have antlers and female are smaller in size than the male. The Spotted Deer and the Langur have a unique relation; Spotted Deers works as a lookout for the Langurs and they, in turn, feed off on the fruits and leaves dropped by the Langurs.

Often seen in groups, feeding mainly on seeds and found foraging around fields, wooded areas, shrubs, these White-rumped Munia are residents below 1220m and a summer visitor up to 2135m. Sporting a stubby grey bill, brown head, neck and upper regions, the rump is white in color.

Found below 300m and mainly residents these Purple Herons have a slender neck with a chestnut colored head, neck with black stripes, pale yellow eyes and yellow bill, grey and chestnut color below the breast orange legs and feet.

These birds are commonly found in marshes, wetlands that have tall covers.
