Constructed in the 16th century by the reigning monarch of Makwanpur, the fort has a storied past, having served as a critical vantage point for controlling the vital trade corridors linking the Kathmandu Valley with the southern plains of Nepal. Additionally, the Gorkhas - during their conquest of Nepal in the 18th century - utilized the fort as a military base.

Within the confines of Makawanpur Gadi, an image of Standing Vansagopal is present, bound by chains. While it is likely that the chains serve as a safeguard against theft, locals hold the belief that Vansagopal is a real deity that once roamed the Makawanpur and Chitawan valleys, vanishing for days on end before returning in the exact same position. During his absences, the mischievous god would often cause destruction to public property for his own amusement.

Pashupatinath is a Hindu temple located in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism, and is considered one of the most sacred temples in the world for Hindus.

The temple is believed to have been built in the 5th century and has undergone several renovations and reconstructions over the centuries. The main temple structure is a pagoda-style building with a golden roof and four silver doors. The temple complex covers an area of 264 hectares and includes other smaller temples, shrines, and ashrams.

Pashupatinath is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus from all over the world. It is believed that a visit to the temple and taking a dip in the Bagmati River, which flows adjacent to the temple, can help in achieving salvation or Moksha. The temple attracts thousands of visitors and devotees every year, especially during the Maha Shivaratri festival, which is one of the biggest Hindu festivals celebrated in Nepal.

In addition to its religious significance, Pashupatinath is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important cultural and architectural landmark in Nepal.

पशुपतिनाथ काठमाडौं, नेपालमा अवस्थित एउटा हिन्दू मन्दिर हो। यो हिन्दू धर्मका प्रमुख देवताहरू मध्ये एक, भगवान शिवलाई समर्पित छ, र हिन्दूहरूको लागि संसारको सबैभन्दा पवित्र मन्दिरहरू मध्ये एक मानिन्छ।

यो मन्दिर 5 औं शताब्दीमा निर्माण गरिएको मानिन्छ र शताब्दीहरूमा धेरै नवीकरण र पुनर्निर्माण भइसकेको छ। मुख्य मन्दिरको संरचना सुनको छाना र चारवटा चाँदीको ढोका भएको प्यागोडा शैलीको भवन हो। मन्दिर परिसरले 264 हेक्टेयर क्षेत्रलाई कभर गर्दछ र अन्य साना मन्दिरहरू, तीर्थहरू र आश्रमहरू समावेश गर्दछ।

पशुपतिनाथ विश्वभरका हिन्दूहरूको लागि महत्त्वपूर्ण तीर्थस्थल हो। मन्दिरको दर्शन गरी मन्दिरको छेउमा बग्ने बागमती नदीमा नुहाउनाले मोक्ष वा मोक्ष प्राप्ति हुने जनविश्वास रहेको छ । मन्दिरले हरेक वर्ष हजारौं आगन्तुक र भक्तहरूलाई आकर्षित गर्दछ, विशेष गरी महा शिवरात्रि पर्वको समयमा, जुन नेपालमा मनाइने सबैभन्दा ठूलो हिन्दू चाडहरू मध्ये एक हो।

यसको धार्मिक महत्वको अतिरिक्त, पशुपतिनाथ युनेस्कोको विश्व सम्पदा स्थल र नेपालको एक महत्वपूर्ण सांस्कृतिक र वास्तुकला स्थल हो।
