STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM! 🩷💚

October 10 was something else! The Northern Lights put on an extraordinary show, turning the Arctic sky into a spectacular display of dancing colours.

But what was actually happening up there?

A powerful coronal mass ejection from the Sun reached Earth on October 10, triggering a strong G3 geomagnetic storm and creating spectacular conditions for the Northern Lights.

Weather update from Tromsø! ❄️

This week starts just as the last one ended – temperatures close to 0°C, amazing sunshine and snow-capped mountains.

In the evenings, conditions are looking great for Northern Lights, especially tonight! 💚💜

Later this week, temperatures will rise again, possibly reaching as high as 10°C (!), with rain and wind likely as we approach the weekend.

Autumn changes quickly up here. We simply have to enjoy the beautiful days while they last. Before we know it, they’re gone!

Safe to say that winter approaching, and that’s a good time to remind ourselves what driving in our region can really be like.

It may sound romantic — snow-covered roads, dramatic landscapes and the magic of the Arctic winter.

But in reality, it can mean:

❄️ Darkness and long nights
🌨️ Heavy snowfall and blowing snow
🧊 Icy and slippery roads
🌬️ Strong winds and sudden changes in weather
👀 Limited visibility
🦌 Reindeer and wildlife on the road
🚗 Road conditions that can change in just a few minutes

Winter driving here is not just about getting from A to B. It’s about being prepared, taking your time and adjusting your driving to the conditions. The scenery may be breathtaking — but the roads can be challenging.
