Days flow into each other without making you stop, then suddenly you poke your head outside the window to check, turn, and all of sudden you stop in your tracks. This is what happened this morning when I was checking the light. First I checked towards where I know the sun rises in the morning and I turned my head. 180 degrees around the magic of those autumnal mornings was playing out with mist on the water, nice colours and mood for days. So what else can you do than grab the gear and go capturing.

As I mentioned in the prior post, I am inspired by Theodor Kittelsen and the Norwegian folk lore, and here I have more aimed for channeling that vibe. Not only was inspired by this, but also by the lyric/poem called "Lindehålsma'en" (The Lindehåls man) which also have been made into a song by a Norwegian band called Vamp. The passage from that poem/lyric that inspired me talks about how we fear the unknown until we get to know it and that too often a troll is just an overturned root.

This image is also captured at the same location as my earlier post. Here I let the light that was coming through the pine trees Letting the light and shadow play with the shape of the root. Normally I don't share that much of B&W images here on this account as I reserve that for my fine art work. I hope you enjoy this image, and I may start to share more B&W images here down the line.

This is another location I have struggled getting to work for me, yet being a place that have intrigued me to capture it. It's not your typical grand vista or popular to capture, yet for me it holds the typical inspiration that call to me. You have woodland that evoke the feeling that I get from Theodor Kittelsen, one of my favorite painters of the Norwegian folk spirit and folk lore. Walking around in the pine forest that grows there I think of the huldra, fairies and trolls.

The place not only holds the lure of folk lore, but it also connects me with another passion I have, history. It's also an old burial site from the iron age, with old burial mounds.

I know that these images does not spark that fairy tale vibe with the lure of the woodland spirits. We are at the moment at the tail end of summer and autumn is about to start, so I chose to focus on the details rather than spooky mist filled woodland scenes as I know I need to return more to this place to capture more images I have envisioned.

Now this here is location I have visited several times before, but for some reason it has always been during a time where the water level and current in the stream is more at it's fullest. This small waterfall has more been like a rapid that wouldn't allow me to find a position facing it strait on without fighting the water to have the camera stable, let alone allowing me to work without needing either some serious boot and rain trousers or hip waders as well as mini spikes for grip. But this time I found myself at this place more on a whim than anything thing else. My headspace was not on doing serious photo work, yet I just threw my expectations out the window and said to myself just grab the camera for fun. First off I was thinking I should grab some shots of the ferns that grows there and as I was trying to rework a frame I did back in 2023, I popped off to survey things. That's when I noticed that I was now actually able to move into the middle of the waterfall with ease.

So these two frames was some of the images I grabbed then. I know I will try to return here later now during August or September before I head out on my autumn trip.

This here is the first real photograph I captured with my new Fujinon XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6. I was staying at this little camp site on the border between Agder and Telemark. The weather had been rather off and on between rain and sun most of the evening, and as the sun began to set it was creating a scene that really reminded me of Theodor Kittelsen's paintings. I knew this was great opportunity to test out the new lens. Zooming to the long end of the lens I got the compression needed to make this scene come to life as I pre-visualized it.

This last passing year have not been what I envisioned. Private life and photography have been suffering from this as for me both are so intertwined. I won't go into what's been happening in my private life, but the broad strokes of the photography I will mention.

Last July I switched digital camera system from my old trusted Nikon with the D800 being my camera of choice, to FujiFilm with the X-T5 taking over for my old trusty mentioned D800. Along with changing camera system I've also totally rebuilt the rest of my kit minus my tripods (they are still FEISOL EUROPE ). We're talking lenses, filter kit and holder (NiSi V6 and Switch holders and filters , Kase Filters UK ), and camera backpack (NYA EVO). Beside just switching camera systems, I've also implemented Cobalt Image film profiles into my workflow to have it easier have similar look across my digital and analog edits.

Also my image archive have been a total mess for years, and this have needed sorting as well. Not to mention my websites, but I won't bore you with all the details surrounding this.

So what you're see here are a small selection of what I've now that I feel I have finally got the chaos a wee bit under control. Not since 2023 have I felt really peace to be in the moment and just do photography, and this have been liberating.

Jæren - Close to Home

Home is not a building, a city, or country. It's not just a house were you live even. Home is were you heart lives. What you call home is were you feel at peace. For me, these images show what I call home. They are shot over a period of almost 15 years. For me, this is where I find inspiration and recharge my energy.
