Cranes on ice! come over these cranes on the river ice in pasvikelva (pasvikriver), it was pretty windy, so they struggeled a bit with balance and glided a bit on the ice😅, it was a nice experiense watching and photographing these big beautiful birds. Shot this at May 2nd 2026, at the middle of the day, so the photographic light was not great, but I did my best😊☀

Mountain hares at Kibergneset, in the golden hour before sunset, they were mostly calm and relaxed sitting on the rock, and suddenly they could burst into action, running around, I was hiding behind a rock, but I think they knew I was there, but just didn't care. It was a magical moment just sit there and watch the hares in the sunset 😊

Beluga whales in the Varangerfjord! The last week belugawhales have been feeding in the mid and inner part of the varangerfjord, on the north side just outside the city of Vadsø. Herds with over 100 individs have been pending between Vestre Jakobselv and Vadsø, I just got the last herd with 9 belugas on my pictures, but I'm very happy to have pictures of them. This is a rare sight with so many belugas. Just the second time I have seen Beluga whales in varanger, and first time it have been more than 1 individ. This late winter/spring have had a lot of whales in varanger, never seen so meny so early, and so many species, with belugas, humpback whales, finwhales,minkywhales and other dolpins😊🥰

Rock ptarmigan on a small cliff at kibergneset this morning the 12th of april :-)

It was a beautiful morning, woke up at 3:15, an hour before sunrise, ate breakfast and got out searching for wildlife, and what a day! with mountain hares, ptarmigans, white tale eagle, humpback whales and dolphins out in the sea close to shore, otters and much more!

A blow from a finwhale making a light fountain from the setting sun, the blows from finwhales is really huge, 6+ meter up in the air!

In the last week, there have been a whale feast in the varangerfjord, with groups of finwhales and humpbacks feeding close to land, like here, just outside shore in Kariel, Vadsø municipality on sunday. The finwhales is actually pretty hard to photograph, as they are just up blowing a few times, then they 'disapear' for a while, and surface another place. So this was my first time actually getting good pictures of them! have tried a few times without success.

The finwhale is also the second largest animal on earth, only beaten by the mighty blue whale!

Used my DJI mavic 4 pro for this :-)

Common eider in Kiberg harbour. Beautiful bird, a common sight here in northern norway 😊
