Photo Stories - The third and final part of "Scenes from a roadtrip from Røros to Oldedalen" is live now!

I hope you have enjoyed this little three part story from this journey.

Arrival in Oldedalen After the crossing over Strynefjellet, the road began to drop. Slowly at first, then with more momentum — leaving the open mountain plateau behind and descending toward the western valleys.

📸 Photo Stories – when images need more room than a caption

Instagram is efficient. Fast. Visual.
But some stories simply can’t be compressed into two or three lines and a couple of emojis.

That’s why I’ve launched a photo blog called «Photo Stories».
It’s an idea I’ve been developing for a long time, but only recently decided to execute on. The final push came during a road trip from Røros to Oldedalen to pick up a new dog sled. As always, the camera was in the car—but this time with a clear intention: to build a story from the journey itself.

This is a long-form platform where the goal is to go deeper into what happens behind the images:
• what actually took place on the trip
• why this specific image was made
• which decisions, considerations, and moments led to the final result

For me, this isn’t just about photography.
It’s about context, storytelling, and brand building.

In a landscape where most content is optimized for algorithms, I want to create content optimized for people.
Slower pace. Greater depth. More authentic experiences from mountains, nature, and travel—seen through a professional, visual lens.

Photo Stories is also a strategic move:
• a channel I own myself
• a space where images, text, and perspective work together
• a tool to demonstrate how visual content can do more than generate visibility—by building trust and narrative over time

👉 The first story is live now.
If you’re curious about the stories behind the images—not just the images themselves—I recommend taking a look.

PART 3: Scenes from roadtrip from Røros to Briksdalsbreen

Arrival in Oldedalen

After the crossing over Strynefjellet, the road began to drop. Gradually at first, then faster — from open mountain plateaus down toward the deep greens of Oldedalen.

Here, the landscape shifts completely. Steep valley walls, running water, and the presence of ice above. Oldedalen sits at the foot of Briksdalsbreen, one of the most accessible arms of the Jostedalsbreen glacier, where meltwater has shaped the valley for thousands of years.

Rivers running full, waterfalls cutting through rock, and the glacier resting above it all — slow, powerful, and indifferent to timing.

This was the destination. The reason for the drive. A new sled waiting, the next season taking shape.

From valley to mountain.
From mountain to glacier.
The route was complete.

Winter could come when it wanted.

PART 2: Scenes from roadtrip from Røros to Briksdalsbreen

Crossing Strynefjellet — history on the mountain

After Grimsdalen, the road climbed toward Strynefjellet — a mountain passage with a long story etched into the landscape. The old road here, Gamle Strynefjellsvegen, was the original link between the fjord villages in the west and the inland communities in the east. It winds roughly 27 km over the mountain, climbing to just over 1,100 meters above sea level, framed by handmade stone walls and rows of old guard stones — reminders of a time when horses and wagons were the only way across.

This stretch isn’t just a route — it’s a cultural heritage road, now designated a National Tourist Route and preserved almost as it was, with sharp bends that follow the old packhorse paths and panoramic views that unfold as you rise. Along the way you can feel the tension between the gentle, glacier-carved shapes in the east and the raw, alpine forms toward the fjords.

Driving over Strynefjellet in late autumn reminded me that some passages aren’t just about distance — they’re about history, effort, and timing.
Another road.
Another piece of the journey before winter claimed the mountains.

PART 1: Scenes from roadtrip from Røros to Briksdalsbreen

CROSSING GRIMSDALEN

In the start of November, I set out on a road trip from Røros to Oldedalen, at the foot of Briksdalsbreen, to pick up a new sled for the dogs. Instead of choosing the fastest route, I went for the more scenic one — the slower way, through Grimsdalen.

Grimsdalen lies between Dovre National Park and Rondane National Park. This road is only open during the summer season and I had to take the opportunity to drive thought there.

Hvitvin går opp, rødvin går ned. Trender kommer og går. Men noe består. – Polet her på Røros er fortsatt rødt og mørkt, sier butikksjef Birgitte Følstad.
