"The great virtue of books is that no one throws them away, and it's where the photographer has complete control over the statement they want to make.” History is a very fluid thing, Martin Parr says, it’s constantly changing, and the way we think about photography is constantly changing too. That makes photography important. People who write history tend to be theoreticians and academics, not photographers. But we learn about photography, by looking at the experience of other photographers, what they've achieved through their creativity, coming up with new ideas and thinking of different ways to interpret the world. A modern Caravaggio story.
