The drive back from Tranøy was supposed to be uneventful.

Then the first rays of the morning sun reached the mountains. Soft pastel colors spread across the landscape while a thin layer of mist drifted over the lake.

I pulled over, grabbed my camera, and simply enjoyed the silence for a few minutes.

That night in the Lieberoser Heide, my goal was to capture the Perseid meteor shower.

When I got home, I realized the same sequence of images had something else to offer. Instead of just looking for meteors, I stacked the entire series into a star trail.
One night. One sequence. Two completely different photographs.

Iceland has no shortage of waterfalls. But standing at Gullfoss in winter feels like witnessing nature at full power.

The air was filled with ice crystals, the roar of the water echoed through the canyon, and everything around me was frozen—except the river forcing its way through.

It's one of those places that reminds you how small you really are.

About 20 years ago, I rediscovered photography. This was photo number 66 taken with my brand-new Canon EOS 350D.

Looking back today, I don't just see a sunset over Berlin. I see the beginning of a journey.
Since then, I've explored countless places, chased storms, northern lights, wildlife, and landscapes across Europe. But every journey has a starting point—and for me, this was one of them.

It's funny how a single photo can change the direction of your life.

I've been to Bøsanden more times than I can count.

Yet every visit feels different.
Sometimes it's the light. Sometimes the tide. Sometimes it's the sky that completely changes the mood.

That's exactly why I keep coming back. There is always something new to discover.

45 minutes. That’s all it took.

When I arrived, I had blue skies and sunshine.
About 45 minutes later, this was the view.

Dark clouds had moved in, the mountains were disappearing and the whole landscape suddenly looked like winter had taken over again.

Northern Norway apparently decided I had seen enough sunshine for one day. 😄

Somewhere along the road in Iceland.

No plan, no particular destination. Just driving through Iceland and stopping whenever something caught my eye.
A tiny white church, a partly frozen lake and a landscape that seemed to go on forever.

Exactly the reason I like exploring without knowing what comes next.

The end of a beautiful night.

After hours of being out with the camera, the night slowly came to an end.
The light returned, the clouds were still hanging low over the mountains and everything had become quiet again.

One last photo before heading home.

Another place. Another quiet moment.

I was exploring Crete with no real plan, just following small roads and stopping whenever something caught my eye.
This lonely rock, the calm sea and the soft evening light were reason enough to stay a little longer.

I thought the evening was over.

Back at Bøsanden in 2025, one of my favorite beaches in Steigen. The sky was grey, the light was fading and honestly, it didn’t look like anything special was going to happen.

And then the clouds suddenly opened above the Lofoten.
For a few minutes, the whole horizon was on fire.

Definitely worth waiting a little longer that evening.
