Our theme is Beachscapes/Seascapes and I'm super excited to share that our guest judge for this month is Johan Drone Adventures 🇧🇪 ! We are planning a drone retreat in Mauritius for 2027 with him and we can't wait to share the details with you all very soon! 🏝️

It took us a while to narrow it down because there were so many incredible entries this month! 🙌🏻

Congratulations to Roman Yuferev for winning our May Aerial Media Contest! 🎉 Roman will receive the $500 prize for this stunning top-down image captured over Seattle.

We were immediately drawn to the unique perspective, strong composition, and the way the scene transforms into an almost abstract work of art when viewed from above. It’s a fantastic example of the creativity that aerial photography makes possible. 🏙️

I was with in Greenland in 2022 for a tour and back then, we had whales come up to our boats almost every day in the Icefiord. We could hear them sing and play from our boats, it was such a surreal experience. But each summer I've returned after that, we've had to sail farther out just to find them.

While no single factor can fully explain it, it's hard to wonder about the cumulative impact of increasing human activity in Greenland. The region is changing rapidly with growing industrial and mining activity, shipping traffic and not to mention, continue hunting of these gentle giants.

We were incredibly fortunate to capture moments like this. The ocean has given us some of the most meaningful experiences and I hope that future generations will have the same opportunity to experience these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

We gained 15k more subscribers on YouTube in 2 weeks! 🙀 We were only at 70k on May 12. Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey so far as Aerial Media nears its 1 year anniversary! 💙

I've had several questions about how fast our channel has grown. I realized earlier on that the regular videos were not getting as many likes even if they reached many viewers. I noticed that 99% of the viewers engage with YouTube from their phones so I started posting shorts. They are the same reels that I would share on Instagram. These shorts bring in the most number of engagements and subscribers for our channel now. The interesting thing is that most of the subscribers seem to come from the locations where the video was taken from. 🤓 This may be a temporary thing because who knows with the social media algorithms but it was worth a shot and it seemed to have worked! 🥳

This time last year, I was in China giving a talk about aerial photography for ! 🇨🇳

I don't speak Chinese so I gave my talk in English and it was AI-live translated to Mandarin. I am pretty confident that the translation was accurate because they actually laughed at my jokes right away. 😅 This year, our focus is to continue to grow as a means to support and inspire aerial photographers around the world.
