Ooit eens tijdens mijn studie scheikunde zelf fotografische emulsies gemaakt. En een pinhole camera en alle chemilaliën om te ontwikkelen. Helaas heb ik de foto's niet meer. Wel de syllabus, die ik nog even doorblader voor hij naar het oud papier gaat.
In mijn trainingen fotografie vertel ik altijd dat het evolutionair handig was dat we in de natuur veel meer tinten groen kunnen onderscheiden dan andere kleuren.
Leuk om nog eens te zien hoe dat fysisch in elkaar zit.

One of my photos is part of a Nature photo expo in South Africa this weekend. Is there anybody in my network in Johannesburg, who can pick it up Sunday 3pm at the FotoZA Gallery, https://www.fotoza.co.za/ ? To give it a nice destination, or to return it to me. Work that is not picked up is destroyed after the expo.

The photo, Nasca B***y Castle, was taken off the coast of San Cristobal, one of the big Galapagos islands on a particularly rough sea.

I just watched this movie which resonated a lot with me. It feels like it reconnects me with my own photographic quest. I was not so much aware of Eggleston before, but the work of Henri Bresson Cartier was one of my first fascinations.
In this movie I like the concept of democracy in photography and that of seemingly meaninglessness, among other things.

De Gele Brug, nog even vrij zicht vanuit Roodnoot. Binnenkort laatste stuk ruimte tussen Vleuten en Utrecht dichtgebouwd. Waar vroeger de paarden liepen steeds meer nieuwe gebouwen.

One of these pictures has been chosen for a photo exhibition in Mexico City, "Dramatic Lighting" next month. The fourth exhibition this year where I will miss the opportunity of celebrating and networking at the vernissage. Previously I missed out on exhibitions where my work was featured in Lisboa (July 2020, Solo-Single Subject), Edinburgh (Nov 2000, Your Favourite Animal) and Barcelona (April 2021, Street Photography). Keeping my fingers crossed (but w/h a lot of hope) for Johannesburg in July (Nature Photography).

One of my pictures was chosen for an exhibition in Barcelona. I really hope I will be able to attend in person. Revenge for an expo last year in Portugal I could not travel to because of covid19. The picture shows another effect of the pandemy. The center of Utrecht is normally very crowded in December. Last year the shops were closed one week before Christmas.
