Nobody tells you what happens to Kasteel de Haar after the tourists leave.

The birds come back. A stork settled on the roof, herons standing still over the moat. Hares running across the lawn. Even though it seemed like a paradise for all animal lovers, we kept the session short - it felt like we were the guests there.

On our first call, they told me what they wanted: photos you can feel. Minimum posing. Not perfect. Real.

And that’s exactly what we did. Little direction and some magic tricks, their willingness to actually let go - that’s the reason these look the way they do. I can set the light and the moment, but I can’t fake two people enjoying themselves.

There was a short moment of silence. Michiel went to welcome their guests, and Andra was waiting just around the corner while they were being seated at the ceremony spot.

I couldn’t resist taking these portraits because, let’s be honest, I was obsessed with her dress, the veil, flowers.. I’m so happy when my clients share my enthusiasm while I’m photographing them and are willing to follow my guidance. When they’re happy, relaxed and just go with the flow, I can really catch these natural moments - a little movement, a last touch-up before ‘I do’ ❤️

There’s so much you can say in black and white.

Lately I’ve fallen for it completely. There’s something in these frames that colour doesn’t hold - a softness, a story that doesn’t shout. The small details we usually miss, caught up in the rush of everything.

For me, black and white holds a moment in a way nothing else does.

You don’t need to fly to France for a beautiful backdrop like this 😍

Utrecht is my creative playground. Good luck getting me to walk in a straight line - my eyes keep catching one more spot, and one more, and one more. The little crooked streets, the water, those quiet old stone corners… I’m hopeless.

And we almost missed the best one. Chasing the light nearly made us move everything earlier - which would’ve meant skipping a hidden little garden behind the old cathedral. For a moment it felt like we’d wandered into the middle of France: beautiful gothic arches, delicate stone lacework, a carved relief above, all soft grey and worn with age. And as much as I love travelling, some places transport you without a boarding pass. I’m so glad we didn’t skip it.

There’s nothing better than clients coming back with good news. ❤️

This is a story about butterflies - the real ones that landed on their hands, and the ones they had in their stomachs. Because right after their wedding, they found out a little someone would be joining them.
A love story between two people, slowly turning into a family love story. I wonder if their little girl will love butterflies too. 🦋

Botanical gardens are like a creative playground, I felt like a kid running there with the head full of ideas😅 We got so many beautiful shots that you’ll probably see more from this pregnancy shot.

This session was shot a while ago - my posting pace is fast as always, haha. But what’s important? Soon I’m heading to their newborn session and I can’t wait to see the cute little girl. 🥰

I love dogs so this photoshoot was a pleasure. Kairo was such a sunshine! 🫠 Amanda & Julian drove all the way from Meppel for this photoshoot and I really wanted to show them the most beautiful side of Tilburg. I’m so happy we’ve chosen Piushaven at the golden hour. This location was so charming and gave us many ideas for creative shots!

The vibe of yesterday’s evening was so good that we ended up having a quick drink together after the photoshoot. Thanks .maria.rita and Julian for driving so long and I hope it was worth it!

We were supposed to drive to two locations for the shoot, but plans changed..

It was one of the hottest days of the summer, and on days like this, taking care of my couple comes first, especially when we’re shooting before the ceremony. So together we decided to skip the drive and make the most of the venue’s own surroundings instead.

And the moment I stepped into the garden, I fell in love.

M & A were so easy to work with. We took it slow - no rush, no pressure. A few photos, then a break in the air-conditioned room to cool down and hydrate, and back out for round two. That was it.

The garden turned out to be everything we needed. A quiet, fairy-tale kind of place 😊

Introverts, this post is for you 🫶🏻

I know one of the biggest thing holding many people back is that thought: “I get tense in front of the camera,” “I don’t know how to pose.” And I want to tell you - you don’t need to know how.

I don’t expect you to become a laughing extrovert bursting with energy. You can simply be yourself. Calm, quiet, in your own little world - and that’s completely OK. You come to a session to see YOURSELF in the photos, not someone entirely different.

Take Olivia and Peter. Him - more energetic and outgoing. Her - more reserved and calm. And look how her stillness took over the whole session - what came out is something peaceful and totally beautiful.

He also chose a gorgeous spot for this special moment - our dunes near Tilburg, at sunset. We did a two-hour session, and those are the ones I love most. Not a race against the clock, but a shared hangout where a couple’s real dynamic can come through.

But okay okay, you know what’s best part? She said YES when the sun was almost hiding behind the horyzont 🥰

She had no idea what was about to happen. 🤍

This one started with a few phone calls and a reschedule (thank you, Dutch weather…) - and turned into one of the most emotional moments I’ve ever had the honour of capturing.

A secret proposal. The kind of day where you simply can’t miss the moment, because there’s no second take. The pressure was real… but so was the magic.

And she said yes! So lucky him.

That day I had a partner in crime - Carmina Tarean was shooting on film. When it was all over, we sat down, caught our breath, grab a drink, and let it sink in before heading home.

What a day. What a feeling 🥰✨

They never gave me a shot list for their wedding day.

No “must-have” photos, no Pinterest board, nothing to tick off. Just one sentence: “We trust you - completely.”

It started months earlier, at their pre-wedding session. After they saw those images, everything settled. They stopped wondering how the photos would turn out, and simply let go.

So yesterday, on their wedding day, they could do the only thing that actually mattered - be fully in it. Celebrate. Laugh. Forget there was a camera at all.
And I felt it. That full trust. The sense that they were leaning on my experience and didn’t have to carry the “photo side” themselves - it was mine to hold.

That’s what a pre-wedding session really gives you. Not just beautiful photos before the day, but the freedom to be completely present on it - because the person behind the camera already knows you.
