𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭𝟬

Sometimes, the best way to see architecture is to stop looking straight ahead.

Looking up transforms buildings into lines, patterns, and perspective. The familiar becomes almost abstract, while the sky becomes part of the architecture itself.

For me, photography is often about finding that moment when a different point of view changes the way we see something we thought we knew.

Sometimes architecture becomes almost abstract.

A staircase, viewed from the right angle, turns into a pattern of repeating lines, shapes and perspectives.

I photographed this stairwell in 2014, in the office building where I worked at the time. Looking back at an image almost twelve years later, I realise that what caught my attention then is still what attracts me now: the search for an unusual perspective.

A bridge is more than a way from one side to another.

In the right light, its structure becomes a composition of lines, shapes and shadows, almost detached from its original purpose.

That is what I look for in my monochrome photography: familiar places seen from a different perspective.

Some places are more than destinations.

They are spaces where architecture quietly guides thousands of journeys every day.

In black and white, the grandeur of Milano Centrale and the rhythm of passing travellers become one composition of light, stone and movement.

Nature creates its own architecture.

For a brief moment, the approaching storm transformed the North Sea into a theatre of light and shadow. The people on the beach remind us how small we are beneath an ever-changing sky.

Black and white removes the distraction of colour and lets atmosphere become the subject.

Some structures never lose their presence.
Long after their original purpose has disappeared, they continue to define the skyline through form, engineering and character.

For me, black and white strips away distraction and reveals the dialogue between steel, light and the ever-changing Dutch sky.

Some places seem untouched by time.

The still water reflects not only the historic house but also the quiet atmosphere surrounding it. In monochrome, the symmetry and contrast become a timeless composition.

Photography sometimes isn't about capturing a moment, but about revealing its silence.

Sometimes the most ordinary places reveal the most extraordinary patterns.

A staircase becomes a study of repetition, geometry and light. Every line leads inward, drawing the eye towards a vanishing point that seems to continue beyond the frame.

Monochrome removes distraction and allows structure itself to become the subject.

Between departure and arrival lies a quiet moment where movement becomes almost effortless. Surrounded by lines, light and repetition, a single figure turns an everyday passage into a study of rhythm and perspective.

Sometimes the journey itself is the destination.

Sometimes, however, it is not the destination but the quiet symmetry, converging lines and the absence of people that draw the eye.

This photograph marks the beginning of Monochrome Perspectives, a personal series in which I explore structure, light and atmosphere through black and white photography.
