Summer is still not yet over but I'm already thinking about the next meeting of Profile Studio Business Club and cannot wait to discuss this question:

ARE YOU BUILDING A PERSONAL BRAND… OR A BUSINESS?

For years, entrepreneurs have been told to build a personal brand.
Show your face. Be authentic. Post consistently. Share your story.

But as AI-generated content floods our feeds and every platform competes for our attention, many business owners are starting to ask a different question:

Can my business grow without depending on ME being online ALL the time?

If you're a solo entrepreneur or run a small business, chances are you ARE the face of your business. Your clients want to know who they're buying from. They trust people before they trust companies.

But where is the line?

How much of you does your business actually need?
Can you build trust without turning your private life into content?
And how do you create a business that people remember, not just a profile that gets noticed?

September's Business Club is an open discussion about one of the biggest shifts happening in marketing today. Together we'll explore how to move beyond the pressure of "building a personal brand" and towards building a business that is trusted, memorable and sustainable.

What We'll Discuss:

✅ Why visibility still matters but visibility ALONE is not a business strategy
✅ The journey from Visibility → Trust → Reputation → Demand → Business
✅ Why people buy from people, but when you are NOT = product
✅ The difference between being the face of your business and becoming the business itself
✅ How to build recognition without oversharing your private life
✅ What AI makes easier and what it can never replace
✅ How visual storytelling helps people remember your business long after they've forgotten another LinkedIn post

🗓 Date and Time: Sept. 10th, 6.30PM

📍 Location: Profile Studio, Frederikstraat 481, the Hague, the Netherlands

🎟 Only 8 spots available – we keep the table intentionally small to allow for real discussion, reflection, and personal feedback.

Can you build trust without turning your private life into content?

This question preoccupied my head during my summer vacation. Somewhere along the way, personal branding got… a little out of hand 😅

Show your face. Share your story. Be authentic. Post consistently. And somehow, we ended up believing that everything about us is content.

I actually like personal branding. People want to know who’s behind a small business, and that’s a good thing.
But being visible doesn’t mean being exposed.

Some businesses naturally need more openness. That’s absolutely fine.
But it’s not a rule for all of us.
You get to decide how much of yourself you bring into your business, and where the line is.

That’s the conversation at the next Profile Studio Business Club:
Are you building a personal brand… or a business?

We’ll talk about how to build trust and recognition without feeling like you have to turn your private life into a content strategy and how to build something that can grow with you, and eventually beyond you.

Apparently I'm very good at photographing people and very bad at announcing when my work gets published.

A small flaw in my PR strategy :-)

Not because I need another bragging moment, but because if I don't share the projects I'm privileged to be part of, how will people know what I actually do?!

This year, several of my photographs have appeared in publications and interviews. And what do I do about it? At best, I repost them and happily piggyback on my clients' efforts.

So here's one that deserves to be celebrated.

This portrait of accompanies her recent interview for , one of the leading international platforms for contemporary jewellery. Seeing my photograph introduce an interview with someone I deeply admire feels incredibly special.

Thereza first came to me looking for a collaboration, then for a personal branding photoshoot. Today she's much more than a client. She's become a friend and, for the second year in a row, a wonderful collaborator at our Glow Up Event.

If you've met Thereza at an art fair, you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you she's shy in front of the camera. The same woman who is an internationally recognized curator, gallerist and author.

I've photographed enough business owners to know that being successful and being comfortable in front of a camera are two completely different skills.

Watching Thereza's transformation during our studio session reminded me why I love portrait photography. We started carefully, taking our time. Then something shifted.

Somewhere around outfit number three, she stopped asking: "What should I do with my hands?"

A little later, she started suggesting ideas herself.

That's when I quietly smiled.

Cameras don't scare people.

Feeling watched does.

My job is to make that feeling disappear.

To create a space where someone forgets they're "being photographed" and simply becomes themselves.

Monday thought:

You don't need to become a different person to be more visible.

You don't need a louder voice.
A bigger title.
A more impressive website.

Most of the time, you simply need to show up.

It's amazing how many talented professionals hide behind old photos, cropped holiday snapshots, or no photo at all.

Meanwhile, opportunities are scrolling past.

A good portrait isn't about looking perfect.

It's about looking like someone people trust.

Someone they'd like to work with.
Someone they'd remember after a networking event.
Someone they'd confidently click "Connect" on.

Visibility isn't vanity.

It's communication.

Happy Monday. Make sure people can see the person behind your expertise.

Some branding photoshoots need moodboards, strategy calls, outfit planning, coffee, more coffee, and possibly a small committee.

And some begin quietly.

With a person you know.
A feeling.
A vision that arrives almost immediately.

That is how my recent branding photoshoot with felt.

Masha is a Ukrainian creator who teaches people to film life beautifully and meaningfully. I was once one of those people. I took her courses, received feedback from her team, and thanks to that journey, I am a videographer today.

Photographing her now felt like a beautiful full-circle moment.

Only this time, I was not watching her lessons with a notebook.

I was holding the camera.

The session itself was organic. Nothing forced. No theatrical transformation. No “mysterious CEO staring into the bright future.”

I had a vision quickly because I have known Masha for some time.

But of course, it is not always like that.

When a client comes to me for a branding session, my first job is not to press the shutter.

My first job is to understand.

Who is the person behind the logo?
What are they building?
What do people trust them for?
What should the photos make others feel before they read a single word?

Without that understanding, branding photography becomes decoration.

Pretty, yes.

Useful? Not always.

And I do not want my clients to pay for pretty-but-empty. That is expensive wallpaper.

What I loved about Masha is her rare talent to stay the same in life and in front of the camera.

She did not try to “be beautiful.”

No striking poses.
No worrying about her face, body position, best side, or safest angle.

She was present. Curious. Playful. Completely herself.

And still, she told me during and after the shoot that she felt natural and at ease with me. That it felt like photo therapy. That she could be playful, a little crazy, and not feel judged.

This matters.

Because even a person who is always in front of the camera can freeze when there is no connection with the photographer.

Being photographed is vulnerable.

For creators.
For CEOs.
For artists.

A first professional profile photoshoot can feel unfamiliar, especially when you want the images to reflect both who you are and where you are going.

That is why I always begin with a conversation: your ambitions, your career path, your industry, and the impression you want your profile photo to create.

Yesterday’s client shared that she felt prepared, supported, and never rushed throughout the session. That means a lot to me, because professional photography is not only about the final image. It is also about helping people feel confident in front of the camera.

I am grateful to all my clients for trusting Profile Studio with your first profile pictures.

If your profile photo no longer reflects your professional direction, it may be time for a new one and I am standing by to help you out, just drop me a message.

Sometimes the problem is not your experience.
Not your service.
Not even your pricing.

It’s the gap between the level you operate at… and the way your business is visually perceived online.

In June, we’ll work on that together.

This special edition of the Profile Studio Business Club combines a professional business portrait photoshoot with structured peer review of your LinkedIn profile, website, and visual presence in general.

Fresh portraits.
Fresh eyes on your business.
Honest feedback that helps you understand what people see before they ever contact you.

We keep this session intentionally small, only 8 spots, so everyone gets shooting time, feedback, and space for real conversation.

🗓 June 11th, 6:30 PM
📍 Profile Studio, Frederikstraat 481, The Hague

If your visuals no longer reflect where you are professionally, you’re very welcome to join us in the studio, link in bio.

𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘 - 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁 & 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

I do not run 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.
I do not 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

This evening is the 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Because I built the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 to give entrepreneurs practical tools they can actually use. And let’s be honest, sometimes the tool your business needs most is not another folder of “brand strategy notes” quietly ageing on your desktop.

Sometimes it is 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 that makes people stop, look, and think: 𝘆𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴.

I did this once before last year, as part of the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯. Same concept, same intimate format. It became one of our 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀.

People left with 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, and a much sharper sense of how their 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 appears to others. Very useful. Slightly confronting. In the best possible way.

So on 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟭, it is back.

The June edition of the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯: 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 is a working evening inside my studio where you will get:

A guided 𝟭𝟱-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
𝟮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀
A 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

All for 𝟭𝟳𝟵 𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀 or 𝟭𝟯𝟵 𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀 if you have joined us before for at least one of the Business Club meetings.

Only 𝟴 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘀 available. We keep it small on purpose, because good portraits do not happen in a queue at the bakery.

Before anyone reads what you do, they’ve already placed you somewhere on a price scale.

Not because of your offer.
Because of HOW your brand looks.

In a matter of seconds, people decide:
Is this for me?
Do I trust this?
Does this feel expensive… or not?

And that decision is visual.

In May, at the Profile Studio Business Club, we’re exploring:

How visuals signal price without saying it.

Why some profiles instantly feel premium.
Why others get questioned - even when the expertise is there.
And how small details like 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, and 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 shape that perception.

Because often, it’s not your price that creates hesitation.
It’s what people see before they get to it.

Small group.
Real examples.
Practical exercises.

We’ll work with real examples and train your eye to recognize what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

What You’ll Walk Away With:
- A clearer understanding of how visuals shape perceived value
- The ability to recognize and adjust pricing signals in your own content
- Practical ways to elevate your visuals without changing your business
- Insight into how perception influences what people are willing to pay
- Honest feedback and ideas from a small group of peers

Who Should Attend?

✔️ Entrepreneurs, coaches, therapists, consultants, and independent practitioners
✔️ Professionals who want their visuals to reflect the true value of their work
✔️ Business owners preparing to raise their prices or reposition their brand
✔️ Anyone curious about how perception influences trust and pricing decisions

🗓 Date and Time: May 14th, 6.30PM

📍 Location: Profile Studio, Frederikstraat 481, the Hague, the Netherlands

🎟 Only 8 spots available – We keep the table intentionally small to allow for real discussion, reflection, and personal feedback.

Last year I made a brilliant decision.

I added videography to my event photography work.

Because clearly… running one complex operation inside my head wasn’t quite enough.

Now I show up at events carrying multiple cameras with different lenses, flash, LED panels and enough technical responsibility to qualify as a small production company.

At any given moment, my brain is juggling:
• Canon settings
• Fuji settings
• Video settings (please no flicker, please no flicker)
• Sound
• Light (or… chaos disguised as light)
• Composition
• Story flow
• Key moments from the organizer
• Who needs to be captured
• Who is actively avoiding me
• And how to make people laugh in under 3 seconds

All while being… invisible.

Not blocking anyone.
Not distracting anyone.
But somehow still everywhere.

Now let’s talk about lighting at this event when WBII was celebrating its 20th anniversary!

To the human eye? Beautiful. Atmospheric. Cozy.

To a photographer and videographer?

A full-blown science experiment.

Warm ambient light.
Cold LED panels.
Colored LEDs around the room.
Spotlights.
And flickering fake “candles” on every table.

If you remember physics -- you understand my stress.

Different light frequencies = flicker risk on video
And surprise skin tones on photos (hello, slightly green humans 👋)

So while guests are enjoying speeches and lunch, I’m out there negotiating with light sources like a diplomat:
“Let’s all calm down and choose one personality, please.”

So a small note to all event organizers:

Treat your photographer/videographer well.

Not because we’re fragile creatives.

But because we are the only people in the room who can:
freeze time,
edit reality,
and decide which version of your event becomes history.

We are, quite literally, your memory department.

So yes… food and water are a strategic investment 🙂

Huge thank you to WBII organizers who took great care of me --
which significantly increased my chances of saving the event successfully.

Planning your next event?

Let’s make sure your memories look as good as they felt.
