I have news… 🤍
The first two months of the year are usually a cosier time for me. Lots of meetings with couples to chat about wedding plans, while I also catch up on all the behind-the-scenes stuff: admin, website updates, workshops, gear maintenance, upgrades, and all the little things that keep my business running and ready to the new season. It’s also when I try to squeeze in some time to visit my family in Brazil and enjoy a bit of summer, something that’s often hard to do during the busy wedding season here.
This year, though, I’m doing things a little differently. I’ve decided to take fewer weddings than usual — around 20–25 instead of the 35–40 (plus smaller sessions) I’ve done in previous years. I really want to slow things down and avoid that burnout feeling that tends to show up halfway through the busy season. I love my profession, and I want it to be a long-term one.
I also want to actually enjoy a bit of the Dutch summer, have some proper Brazilian barbecues, and not only work nonstop every single weekend for months in a row. This year is about going a bit slower and finding a better balance for myself.
Please don’t take this as a complaint at all — I truly love what I do, and I feel incredibly grateful to do what I love as my work. But being an entrepreneur means learning as you go. It’s been five years now, and I’m still discovering what works best for me and my business. Rerouting, adjusting, and changing the pace is all part of the process, and honestly, it’s healthy.
I hope you also find a rhythm this year that feels good and fulfilling for you, if possible.
Happy New Year!! ✨
