Time to kiss your loved ones and let 2021 behind! Another weird year but still one to be thankfull for.

Lots of couples didn't let corona screw up their wedding plans in 2021. For sure, there can be pretty scary looking things along the path. Like these buffalo's during the weddingshoot of J & E who came waaaay to close and weren't that friendly. But when going trough and looking back it's an unforgettable story and worth it. None of my couples did regret celebrating their wedding during the pandemic for one sec. And me neither. Thanks to them it was a crazy busy year!

I wish you guys a lot of love for 2022. CHEERS!

It has been quiet here lately, but that doesn't mean lazy times here! This crazy busy weddingseason is still running for me. But with just one more wedding to go there's almost some time to take a breath. I feel blessed with such a full schedule of weddings I shot this season!
So last months with sometimes 6 weddings in 2 weeks, I decided to let go my socials and focus on the real work. And I honestly must say I didn't miss it. It's good for me to just focus on my couples and their stories and besides that on my little family.
That means that now I've loooooads of lovely, badass couples and moments to share with you. Cause peeps, what an awesome weddings I've had this season! Can't wait to share it with you guys!

I love to just walk around during the getting ready to capture these little moments and search for the best light.
More and more couples book an hotelroom or Airbnb for the getting ready or they do the getting ready on their wedding location. I love that! This way you can also match this part of the day with the rest of the wedding. You will love that when you see you wedding reportage afterwards for sure!

MOMENTS THAT MATTER
A few weeks ago I had a meeting with one of my couples for their weddingalbum. We were checking out the albumdesign when she told me that her grandmother had recently passed away. That she was so incredibly happy with the loads of pictures I made from her with her grandmother on the weddingday.
So for sure there had to be a lot of them in their weddingalbum too. Like these two pictures from her enjoying the getting ready.
Guys, make sure that your most loved ones are around you on your weddingday. Those memories and pictures last forever!

It's not all about the big moments on your wedding day. For me the little touches and little moments are as important. That's why I never stop looking around on a wedding. Most of the time the couple don't even notice making those shots. Like this one. Just after the shoot a little moment together in the car before heading to their ceremony. Love it!

Nothing is better then an emotional but happy and funny ceremony on your wedding day! I love it when ceremonies are outside. It gives the ceremony an extra happy and less formal touch. ⁠

What a crazy year 2020 was! We all have mixed feelings about it I think. But let me say this:

Becoming a dad was my absolute highlight of this year for sure! Simply the best day of my life. Seeing her always happy face. Realizing that she grows so fast and healthy. Hearing her mumbling in her own baby language. It makes my day, every day. Yes, she's born in these Covid times and we couldn't celebrate the planned birth party. And probably her first birthday won't be normal as well. But hey, we simply had to deal with it and we will celebrate everything even bigger after all this is over!

I'm so incredibly PROUD of all my couples of 2020. Some couples had the guts to postpone to 2021 and some had the guts to still celebrate their wedding in covid times. There was no good or bad choice. And I have to say I was so surprised by the creativity and inventiveness of all my couples every single time! How they dealed with all these sh*tty unwanted worries around their wedding day. And I'm very blessed I still had 18 weddings to capture this year. A lot of them where very intimate and I loved it! It let me see that a virus can't cancel love for sure!

Let's count our blessings and be there for people who are having tough times!

A big thanks to you all for your support this year. I'm very hopefull for 2021 to be a bit more normal year. So I wish you all a HAPPIER NEW YEAR with hopefully a lot of cuddles!

Today it's time to make some new work again. Coming out of my editingcave and grab that camera again. It has been a while but it's so important to stay creative besides all the work behind my screen. Oh yes, you're wrong if you think a photographers job is mostly being out in the open and shoot like crazy. It's more like doing shoots and being behind the screen the rest of the time. Doing editing, emails, administration and so on. I love it all, but shooting is what want to do!

Today I discovered that I won an award in the Masters of Wedding Photography Benelux competition! Such an honor and so happy with this surprise! Also I'm very happy to win with a photo like this, because this is how I like my couples; relaxed, spontaneous and happy!

My therapy on these dark and wet days is to think at all those happy faces that I captured this wedding season. The happy couples that dared to celebrate their wedding anyway. About the fact that a virus can destroy a lot but never can destroy the love between two people. That makes me happy and thankful for this wedding season.
With only one wedding to go for this month, my season is officially over. And I'm so blessed that I still captured a lot of weddings and elopements and didn't had to worry to much about financial stuff!

The only sad thing for you guys is that 2021 dates are booked like crazy. So make sure you booked your spot as soon as you've picked a wedding date!

GROUPSHOTS
Okay, usually it's not the most fun part of your weddingday. But I always recommend my couples to take a few groupshots. Just as a document for later. Cause they will have more and more value over the years. Who was there on your wedding and how did they look like? And do we have a picture of us together with grandma?
I always try to make something fun of the groupshot session. It don't have to be that boring! Like using these leftover smokebombs for the groupshot with the friends of the bride and groom. We had so much fun doing this!

I think 2020 for me is the year of the small and intimate weddings. And of couples getting even more creative to celebrate their love in a safe but pure way. Special locations and not the weddings with around 150 guests.

Oh yes, Covid sucks! But try to make the best of it! It asks for some flexibility of you guys, but in the end you will love your wedding day!
How cool is the ceremony location of this elopement? They didn't plan to do it this way, but they celebrated in the midst of the woods with just a few of their closest family and friends. Loved it!
