A face. A life. A moment.

Marian Laudin — a remarkable life in tennis.

From Czechoslovakia to the Netherlands, from top-level player to one of the most influential coaches in Dutch tennis.

Marian reached No. 2 in the Dutch rankings, just behind Tom Okker, and went on to dedicate decades of his life to developing players and sharing his knowledge of the game. He coached generations of Dutch talent and became a true bridge between different eras of international tennis.

What struck me most when I met Marian was not only his extraordinary knowledge and network, but his continued passion for the game — and his genuine gratitude for the Netherlands, the country that gave him a new opportunity and a new life.

This portrait is my small tribute to a man who has given so much to tennis in the Netherlands.

Thank you, Marian, for the stories, the passion and the perspective.

Less noise. More light

Some moments don’t need direction — they simply unfold.
A glance, a smile, a quiet connection.

Photographing my son and his girlfriend in the studio reminded me that the most meaningful portraits are often the least staged. Just light, trust, and the people you love. 🖤

Chas Gerretsen

Some faces don’t need explanation.
They carry their own history.

I asked him very little.
Silence did most of the work.

The hat, the lines, the gaze —
not performance, but memory.
A life that has witnessed, framed, endured.

In the stillness of the studio,
time became visible.

What about color…?

Quiet light, fragile forms.
A small still life about balance, imperfection and the beauty of things that don’t last.
Sometimes a flower can say more than a face.

Silence is not empty.
It is full of tension, of weight, of things almost letting go.
A still life made slowly.
Allowing the flowers to bend, to hesitate, to exist without explanation.

Nothing added.
Nothing forced.
Just attention..

At the edge of the world.
Where sky, ocean and sand dissolve into silence.
Ninety Mile Beach, Aotearoa – a place that reminds you how small you are, and how free you can feel.

The world slows down when you stop rushing.
Just water, sky, and the sound of tires on an empty road.

New Zealand through the windshield.
Black and white, because memories don’t need color..
