This throwback took me up to my attick because I knew I had some analog pictures in a box somewhere. I had no idea what I was doing back then, I just wanted something to take home from the huge Java Island show in 2005 😄. Lots of fresh faces here, welcome everyone! Meanwhile I'm just popping by to say that I'm taking a longer break this summer, to recharge from a busy first half of the year. Unlike many concert photographers, I don't shoot a lot of summer festivals. Instead I spend more time with my loved ones, take lots of nature walks, hang with the horses or go to the seaside to have my brain settle down (does it ever though 🤣) and make space for new ideas to grow. Nevertheless, I'm practicing new techniques and am working on improving my skills before the new theatre/concert season starts. It's kind of fun, picking up your camera and, as much as I dislike the saying... get out of your comfort zone with it. Right now I'm playing with double exposure... not just in Photoshop, but in camera, and it's so much fun 😄. For any photographer out there taking a break too, don't just put your camera in a corner until your next gig, but play with it, discover stuff you haven't tried before. Remember why you loved taking pictures in the first place 🩷.

Throwback #1 - 🎤 Tarja Turunen 🎤

Tarja Turunen was the reason I started sneaking cameras into concert venues, back 2011. I felt I never found the emotion I saw during her performance in any of the concert photos I looked up after the shows. So I decided to try and catch it myself, and create my own keepsakes from the shows I went to. The very last shot in this reel is the one that set off my passion for concert photography and I've been trying to catch that emotion ever since 😊. I haven't re-edited anything... yes, the oldest ones are pretty crappy 😆, but it's how I've evolved as a photographer and I hope you'll enjoy this short leap back into time!

Since the Instabeast needs to be fed 😉, but especially since I feel like it, why don't I dig into my archives and make a compilation reel of some of the bands I've photographed the most over the years. It may involve some digging in the attic to find photos from the pre-digital era 😁 (unless it gets too hot again 🥵😂). I'll do Tarja anyway, because she kick-started all of this years ago!
