Sometimes a portrait doesn’t need to explain itself.

A face partly hidden. A single eye. Hair becoming a shape. Fabric becoming part of the composition.

For this series I wanted to move away from the traditional portrait and play with unusual crops, soft colours and slightly unexpected poses. Clean, strange, playful and a little bit surreal.

Because sometimes the most interesting portraits are the ones that feel just a little… off.

Steel, reflections and endless angles.

A different perspective on the Atomium in Brussels.

Rather than simply photographing this iconic structure as a whole, I became fascinated by its details: the huge metal spheres, the intersecting lines and especially the reflections moving across their surfaces.

From underneath, the Atomium almost loses its familiar identity. Architecture becomes geometry. Metal becomes a mirror. The city, sky and surroundings are broken apart and reflected back in unexpected shapes.

That transformation is what I love about photographing architecture. Finding something abstract inside something everyone already knows.

Ice, but make it alien.

Every crack a fault line. Every bubble, trapped breath.

Light from below turns frozen water into something unrecognizable — landscapes that shouldn’t exist, textures pulled from another planet. No filters, no CGI. Just ice, flash, and color gels doing what light does best: revealing what was hiding in plain sight.

Sometimes the most mysterious places aren’t far away. They’re in your freezer.

There’s a certain kind of silence you only find in the woods.

For this series, we kept things simple. Natural light, a white dress, the texture of the trees and a beautiful model completely at ease with her surroundings.

Photographed in black and white, everything feels quieter. The colours disappear and what remains is light, texture, expression and stillness.

A small escape from everything moving too fast.

Beauty remains, even when everything else fades.

These macro photographs reveal the fragile remains of a Chinese lantern plant, reduced almost entirely to its delicate network of veins.

Up close, something familiar becomes something else entirely. Soft, mysterious and almost otherworldly. The shallow focus lets parts of the structure disappear into blue and violet shadows, while tiny fragments seem to float somewhere between decay and preservation.

I love how macro photography can turn something so small and fragile into an entire world of its own.

Sometimes the closer you look, the less familiar something becomes.

Strange, playful, slightly off. Just how I like it.

I shot this series with Dewi a few years ago, and somehow these images still feel just as strong to me today.

The exaggerated poses, the slightly awkward angles, the expressions, the retro styling. Nothing was meant to feel too polished or predictable. We played with shape, character and perspective, allowing the portraits to become a little weird.

And I think that’s exactly why I still love them.

Not every portrait needs to be beautiful in the conventional sense. Sometimes strange is far more interesting.

Older than memory.

Hidden between the forests of Drenthe, these ancient stones have been standing here for thousands of years. Silent witnesses to lives, rituals and stories that disappeared long before ours began.

I wanted to photograph the hunebedden differently. Not as monuments to be documented, but as forms, textures, shadows and fragments. Getting close enough for the stones to become almost abstract, while still carrying the weight of their history.

There is something humbling about standing beside something that has survived for so long.

Stone. Light. Shadow. Time.

Er is toch iets heel bijzonders aan om een van je eigen foto’s ineens als fysieke print in handen te hebben. 📸✨

Vandaag pak ik een van mijn proefprints uit en ik ben echt ontzettend blij met hoe hij geworden is! De details, kleuren en structuren die je normaal alleen op een beeldscherm ziet, komen ineens helemaal tot leven.

En dit is nog maar het begin… 👀

Achter de schermen ben ik druk bezig met de laatste voorbereidingen voor de lancering van mijn fine art fotografie webshop. Binnenkort kun je mijn fotografie dus ook een plek geven aan je eigen muur.

Ik kan niet wachten om alles eindelijk met jullie te delen! 🖤
