On again off again on again.

Off again, for sure, for real, definitely. This page hasn’t seen an update for a LONG time. Photography just isn’t me anymore.
I think the COVID years hurt many businesses, and for me the pause was just too long, I’ve tried to get back to it, but my heart just wasn’t in it.
I think for many it also changed the “need” for photography, and the industry for many other reasons just isn’t the same anymore more.

I’ve always been a creative, I love helping small businesses with branding , clever marketing campaigns, and new product ideas, I love to design, and test and make and I’ve been doing that for what seems like forever.

I want to make, and develop and help others, so I’ll be shutting the doors of Rudi Wells Photography and slowly building up UnSaid , which has been around for a long time, making and designing and helping businesses see their potential.

I’ll close this page in the near future. And I’ll begin to develop and add to the unsaid page here on Facebook and instagram. So thank you to all that supported my photography for the last 15 years, I’ll hope you’ll tag along and keep an eye on the next fun journey.

Here’s the instagram incase you prefer, it’s new and shiny, but there’s so much to share, not just what I’m doing but what I’m doing with others.

https://www.instagram.com/unsaid.creative

The unsaid page on Facebook has been around a while but it’s going to get a good clean up soon, and I’ll be starting again clean shortly, you can click on the unsaid link near the beginning of this post to follow along.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" - um... at almost 45, I'm only just getting close to an answer.
The last two years have changed everything for small businesses, and as a photographer, it's been especially tough.
While things are getting better, changes are inevitable. Some of us have closed up shop, others moved in another direction, and some are lucky enough to be able continue doing what they love in some way or another.
I sit somewhere in the middle, things will and are getting busy again, I could continue and rebuild, but I've made a decision to look at other options for the next 12 months.
I wasn't always a photographer, before that I had a highly specialized career, and I gathered some kick-ass skills along the way. After that life, creating a successful photography business let me build an even more valuable set of skills, better suited to who I am and what I'm capable off - Marketing and advertising, design, content creation and more. Deep down I'm a creator, an ideas person, a problem solver, and I've used the last couple of years to fill in the blanks in those areas and refine and improve on what I know. I've been writing, designing, making, staying "shiny".
But I also miss people, I miss working in a team, inspiring, and being inspired. I want to work again on meaningful projects which have impact, and produce measurable results.
So for the next 10-12 months I'll be Studying again, taking on the challenge of UX Design with Career Foundry, an exciting Course, which will allow me to focus what I already know, and learn plenty along the way.
What does it mean for the Photography business? Well, corporate shoots are ongoing and busy for existing and new clients, I still love to make meaningful and real images for businesses and their employees, but I'll max out at 30/35 hours per month.
Family and kids portraiture, which helped me make my mark will be minimal. Simply put, one possibly two a month, if that. I most likely will not take new clients for these, and will use my quota for my amazing regulars, so don't be surprised or offended if I say no.
Onwards and upwards, I'll see you on the other side.

This week I made some changes to my Business Registration, so Rudi Wells Fotografie will become Rudi Wells Creative. Why? Because as well as Photography (this page will stay) I've merged Just Shoot Photography workshops as well as added digital and product design services from UnSaid who is busy making wonderful branding and advertising ideas, as well as designing and making some cool products.
In fact UnSaid has a really beautiful give-away happening at the minute, so if that's your thing, feel free to head on over there and follow along.

So, I'm still on "Pause" with the Photography things.
Weird times. Work has been starting and stopping. I'm still a photographer. I don't mind putting my feet up and taking it easy once in a while, but I do mind when my brain is idle. I don't feel so shiny, and creativity suffers.
For the last 15 years I've been other things as well, I have pages of creative ideas, in design, marketing, even countless scripts for advertisements. A few months ago I began putting some order to the chaos, learning more about the many things I knew only partly, I've taken 11 online courses, and currently doing three more. Learning a range of things, no matter how irrelevant to the bigger picture is a good thing, creating more connections in your brain makes you a better thinker, more creative and a better problem solver.
For the last 15 years UNSAID was many things for me and now its a place to (over time), put my "stuff" - Ideas, designs, physical things I've made, and a bunch of other things that I'm sure some of you will find a little interesting. So I know many of you don't need another page to follow, and it will be tomorrow before you see a first post there, but maybe give it a week or two before you decide to "unlike" it. More than anything its a place to give myself some accountability, to put things that I can be encouraged to develop, get feedback and complete. This isn't a begging post for you to like the page, just an FYI that it exists.

Unsaid has existed in some form for about 15 years. From now I'll use it as place to put things, digital and physical creations, sometimes fun, sometimes clever, sometimes just because they need a place to go.

What a rollercoaster this year has been. I'm sure it's been tough for many, not only financially but mentally also and I hope you guys are doing ok.
I'm putting a little pause on Rudi Wells Fotografie, just for a few months, and only for the family and kids photography. Linkedin/professional portraits can continue, with some planning and of course sticking to all the new rules.
I need to keep my mind active and creative, I just haven't been able to do that this year, I feel a little less "shiny", and uninspired..
I have many other creative skills that I've only ever been able to do in little bits, branding, design, creative advertising/marketing, and it's time to study, to expand on those and to increase and focus them into something solid and usable in the real world.
So for now this page exists, with a lean towards professional headshots, and in the future, beautiful kids and family portraits will return.
Stay safe and healthy.
Love to you all.

We are starting to shoot again soon!
There are just some days that we don't want to turn on the camera for that online company meeting, so don't be that guy in the middle, use an awesome headshot instead.
While I catch up with emails, and set some new guidelines for the studio, I can tell you this. Starting Saturday 16th, and running for 4 weeks, all headshot sessions are 75 Euros, instead of 95. I'll be running one a day, including Saturdays and Sundays and you can set the time between 10am and 2pm. There will be distancing ad hygiene guidelines in place.
So, if you want an image you can be proud to share online, or are shopping around for a new career and need an updated set of photos, this is for you.
For anyone that was booked for the cancelled full day of shots with hair and makeup, we are working hard to find a new date and a procedure that we can work safely and efficiently and will update you soon.
Please Share!

**taps the microphone - this thing on?
This Sunday 15th beginning around 1pm there will be Linkedin / CV Headshot Sessions. For an even lower price than the regular Essential shoot (normally 95 Euros), we'll also be including 15/20 minutes of basic hair and makeup touches.
Keep an eye out for the Event announcement today with sample images from the previous sessions. You will be able to choose your time slot.

When was the last time you had a professional portrait taken?
Often we think of making memories of the who, or the where, but rarely to remember the "when"
It's wonderful to look at an image and say "that was around the same time we..." or "do you remember that was when you..."
My session charges are still zero, simply invest in those images, those memories you'll really treasure.

The daughter of my last AirBnB guests mentioned an interest in Photography, so I surprised her with a few shots by herself, and with her father and mother, minutes before they had to leave back to France.
I love the challenge of these short shots, making connections, bringing out the person, all in less than five minutes.
Please don't forget that your older kids and teens are never too old to make some amazing shots. She was 14, and her parents will treasure these forever.

Who's the Sassy one in your family? Who loves the attention?
Another "in between" shots shot. I love these. So do your kids bring out the best, or the worst of each other? Maybe a little of both?
These two ladies were awesome, so different, but they worked so well together. And Rudi is getting his groove back!
