My hands-down favorite season has begun, yay!

Every year, when the trees start to bloom, it seems to me that life is just starting, and future is full of promise. Every day brings new flowers, birds sing, and the whole gorgeous, hot, seemingly endless summer is still ahead, and everything surely will be fine.

I don’t usually stand in front of the camera, but today felt like a good moment to say hello.

Hi, I’m Kate, a portrait photographer and an expat in Eindhoven. Both are important parts of who I am.

I discovered my love for photography so many years ago that it’s hard to count. My first truly good portrait was of an apple. (An apple with a lot of character, I should add.) Soon after, I realised that photographing people is even more fascinating.

Before moving to the Netherlands with my husband and our toddler son, I lived in Finland for about three years and also spent some time in Moldova and Romania. I still have dear friends there, and I miss them often.

I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and the news from there breaks my heart almost daily. When it becomes overwhelming, I take up my camera and try to bring something beautiful and meaningful into the world - to tip the scales, even if just a little, toward the good.

If you’re reading this, I’m really glad you’re here. Even more so if you connect with my work. I hope you’ll stay, keep me company, and maybe share a bit of your own story in the comments.
