Namib desert endemic fauna
- female Namib sand gecko ou Namib web-footed gecko (Pachydactylus rangei). The gecko barks if you’re wondering (although for me it will always sing 😉because the fascinating Namib desert requires poetry, sorry Ansgar 😜).
- Namaqua chameleon (Chamaeleo namaquensis)
- Peringuey’s desert adder or desert sidewinding adder (Bitis peringueyi)
And the dollar bush succulent (Tetraena stapfii or Zygophyllum stapfii)
Amazing, unforgettable tour with the best guides Ansgar and Andrew Desert Tours (Tommys Living Desert Tour) 🙏
Fr :
- femelle gecko du désert
- caméléon du Namaqua
- vipère du désert de Namibie ou vipère de Péringuey

Instagram vs. Reality
Do you know what those fierce looking lions are doing when you see them wrinkle their muzzle? Actually, it’s (often, not always) just about taking the picture when they finish or start yawning, lol. 😜
This gorgeous lioness is about to take a nap under a big tree, in the mid day heat.

Our evening rendez-vous in the park of Nkasa Rupara. Second day, we are starting to manage finding our way on the island. We reached the river where this beauty was waiting for us.

Cheetah in the golden light
This morning we were rushing (within the speed limit of course) to the spot with the lionesses and their kill that we saw last night during the night drive. We had to stop because the road was blocked by two gorgeous fellows. This was just the beginning of a stunning big cats morning drive with: a lion and the prey stolen from the lionnesses, two lions mating and two lionesses at the waterhole. And on our way back, two more chettahs with their recent kill.

I discovered my first Slime Mould in October 2019. Neither fungi nor plant, they are Myxomycetes. These organisms go through different stages. At one stage in their life cycle they are single cell amoebae. Most of my images show them as fruiting bodies which is the spore bearing stage. They are extr...
