Shorter days change everything in the greenhouse. 🌱Here’s one quick tip to keep your crop on track this month:💡 Start the lights earlier in the morning. Light intensity and day length drop fast, so we keep the day long with lamps. Our energy screens now open later in the morning and close earlier in the afternoon to save energy. With less light, the crop also needs less water, so we adjust the irrigation.

The result? A steady, healthy crop, even on short days.

Behind the scenes: trimming our Dianthus 🌸 Our potted Dianthus are trimmed by machine at just the right moment. This stimulates side shoots and gives a fuller, more compact plant with more flower buds per pot. It also keeps the crop uniform and evenly timed, so every batch looks consistent. Precision and efficiency, all in the name of quality.

A look inside R&D at HilverdaFlorist 🌸. Where we choose the alstroemeria of tomorrow. Our team goes through every candidate with a keen eye. Is the colour striking? Is it fast and uniform in its growth? Is it resistant to diseases and pests? Is the stem quality up to standard? Does it have that something extra? ✨ Only the varieties that truly stand out make it to the next round, so our professional growers get the very best varieties to grow.
