As one of the featured artists, I’ll be attending a meeting at the Maluku Belanda exhibition. I’m styling a traditional Moluccan kain kebaya with a modern twist, pairing a long skirt, the kain slongkang, with a contemporary white blouse. To top it all off? White sneakers. Talk about modernizing a classic!

Traveling guestbook

Although her hometown is only a short drive away, today’s visitor chose to make a one-hour bike ride to the museum to see the exhibition, braving a few raindrops before the sun ultimately cleared her path.
I am profoundly grateful for her visit and her commitment to supporting my work. Having collaborated as musicians for more than two decades, it was incredibly special to share this other dimension of my creative journey with a long-time colleague. To top off a wonderful visit, she was kind enough to share her reflections with me in my traveling guestbook.

My traveling guestbook

As the Maluku/Belanda exhibition continues through December, it has been incredibly rewarding to read the diverse perspectives left in my traveling guestbook. I find myself wondering who will stop by next to engage with my photographic work.

Engineering meets Art

How historical master builders turned structural necessity, like distributing massive weight, into a breathtaking visual experience.
How engineering from centuries ago can feel so deeply artistic and meditative.

When you look up into the high expanse of this sacred space, the architecture completely transforms. The rhythmic symmetry and the precise geometry of the (ribbed) vaults guide your eyes along a network of stone arches, all interlocking seamlessly at the vault crowns.
What initially feels like a vast, high ceiling quickly transforms into a massive, deliberate artwork.

My traveling guestbook

It is such an amazing feeling when different parts of your world collide. Seeing a friend from my music circle step into my world as an image-maker and photographer makes this day feel truly unforgettable.

My traveling guestbook

Two wonderful visitors recently stopped by to check out my photography at the Maluku/Belandaexhibition (open through December!). 📸
One was a Dutch visitor who spotted the event online, and the other was an American traveler who wandered in by chance but felt an instant, deep connection to the story behind my work.
I’m so incredibly grateful that they both took the time to share their heart and thoughts in my traveling guestbook. Moments like these make the whole journey worthwhile. ✨

Shared Moments ✨

It is such a pleasure seeing people experience my work in person. I love personally inviting my circle of friends and contacts to the museum so we can choose a day to meet up, walk the gallery floor together, and talk about the art.

I also recently received my new business cards (thanks VistaPrint), and they have quickly become a favorite way to keep in touch. With my name and website on one side and the main exhibition image on the reverse, they serve as a beautiful little piece of the gallery to hand out.

Once we have taken everything in, I always invite my guests to write in my colorful traveling guestbook. Because my photography is not an isolated showcase but an integral part of the whole exhibition, their written words help tie my personal narrative directly into the broader, collective story we are telling here.

Ancient faith meets modern art!

Beautiful morning service today. The pastor spoke on John the Baptist, and I had the joy of singing Mendelssohn’s O for the wings of a dove. Watching the morning light stream through the sanctuary, I used the colorful stained glass to create a digital gothic window on my iPhone. A perfect mix of old-world beauty and new-world creativity. 🎨🙏
