Would you like to visit the SPS to view the portraits and discuss the possibilities? Book a session at the unique Silver Portrait Store in the old centre of Amsterdam to capture your likeness in a professional Tintype/Ambrotype studio. The experienced portrait photographers Barend van Herpe and Annemarie van der Heijden use a modern take on a traditional 19th century technique known as Wet Plate T
intype or Black Glass Ambrotype photography. In approximately 60/90 minutes you will have had a wonderful experience to remember. To create a timeless portrait, traditional skills in camera setup, lighting, timing and chemistry are vital. For each unique, one-off portrait we prepare an aluminium or black glass plate with a light sensitive layer. This wet plate is exposed in a large format camera obscura. After exposure, we invite you into the darkroom to witness first-hand the developing process in all its stages. You will receive the original plate-with-portrait. We also offer high quality framing, scans and fine art bariet prints. As our clients testify, sitting for a traditional tintype portrait is a totally different experience from the film or digital age. This old magic takes you into a timeless zone, far beyond the hustle and bustle of everyday life – a place where you can see more of yourself or your loved ones. Pass by this little gem in the old centre of Amsterdam to to have a look at the original Tintype and Ambrotype portraits, discuss the possibilities and to book a session. Open:
