Still one of my favourite shoots, with one of my favourite people I’ve ever photographed. Not just because of the images, but because Emma remains one of the warmest, brightest and most inspiring people I’ve had the privilege to meet through my lens.

Back then, Emma was still finding her path in modelling, and I was searching for my voice as a photographer. By allowing herself to be so open, vulnerable and completely herself in front of my camera, she gave me the space to discover who I was as an artist. She trusted me. For that, I’ll always be grateful. No team. No make-up. No styling. Just Emma being her true self, me, and my camera.

Looking back, this shoot feels like an anchor point in my career. One of those rare moments where everything quietly came together and showed me the direction I wanted to go. Therefore, you will always have a very special place in my heart

BEHIND THE IMAGE

My photography begins with curiosity. A curiosity about people, their stories, their contradictions, and the emotions that exist beneath the surface. Before becoming a photographer, I worked as an actor, a profession that taught me to observe closely, listen without judgment, and understand what drives a person beyond what is immediately visible. It taught me that every person carries a world within them, and that understanding someone requires openness, empathy and genuine attention. That experience continues to shape the way I work today.

For me, a portrait is never just about appearance. I am not interested in creating a perfect version of someone, but in capturing something honest. Every photograph starts with a connection. When people feel comfortable enough to let go of expectations, something real begins to emerge. Those are the moments I am drawn to. Where vulnerability becomes strength and an image starts to feel alive.

I have never been interested in technical perfection for its own sake. A photograph can be flawlessly lit and perfectly composed, yet leave you feeling nothing. What matters to me is emotion, presence and atmosphere.

Perhaps that comes from my background in theatre. As an actor, I learned that authenticity rarely exists within comfort or control. The most meaningful moments happen when you take risks, let go of certainty and allow something unexpected to unfold. Those moments are rarely perfect, but they are truthful. They feel alive.

That philosophy continues to guide my photography. I use technique as a tool, not as a destination. What interests me is the feeling an image leaves behind.

Photography allows me to preserve something that would otherwise disappear: a feeling, a presence, a fleeting moment in time. That is what continues to inspire me: the possibility of creating images that are not only seen, but felt.

Through my work, I aim to create portraits that feel timeless, intimate and human. Not photographs of how someone looks, but photographs of who they are.
