While in Italy, we took the ferry one afternoon to Limone.

We strolled around, ate pizza, drank beer, had lemon flavored ice cream for dessert, and snapped some photos of dogs.

Afternoons don’t get much better than that.

Costa Rica was great to Viola.

She walked the beach in Tamarindo twice a day, got in amazing shape, swam, drank and coughed up salt water, made dog friends, and, most importantly to her, often found food scraps on the beach.

A few more favorites from my day documenting rescue dog training in Italy.

I’m still in awe of the capabilities of these dogs. Ferruccio Pilenga is the founder of Scuola Italiana Cani Salvataggio - The Italian School of Rescue Dogs - and has such a passion for this work.

SICS rescue dogs work as lifeguards at beaches and lakes all across Italy and they have performed hundreds of rescues since the organization’s formation in 1989.
