Even if the same corrupt leaders are recycled every 4 years.

I'd smile,
Even though the government cares more about the upcoming election than my education.

I'd smile,
Even if the rate of insecurity heightens day by day,

I'd smile,
Even in the midst of the high prices and cost of living

I'd smile,
Even if it is difficult and hurts to.

Even if Nigeria fails me again and more, I'd keep smiling, hoping, praying and working.
Because this is my country, our country,
my fatherland, our fatherland;

I pledge to Nigeria my country to be faithful, loyal and honest.

But How can I serve with all my strength when it seems as though my beloved nation is out for my blood.

When as a student studying a four year course, I am expected to graduate in nothing less than 5 years if all goes well, if it doesn’t? Then 7 years.

I am forced to stay home when my peers in the polytechnics have long since graduated.

Insecurity of life and property is on the rampage...
I am unable to keep up the the ever rising price of food and other commodities in the market.

My fellow youths have turn to crime to escape poverty.

Ritual killings are on the rise.
We wail over unemployment, bad leadership,over our failed government and educational systems.

But with ever renewed hope, I believe, we believe that this country will be great again.

Happy Independence Day Nigeria.
