When you go to buy cement, you’ll often hear numbers like 32.5, 42.5, or 52.5. These are not just random codes, they represent the grade (strength) of the cement.

Here’s the breakdown:

32.5 Grade Cement

Lower strength compared to others.

Suitable for plastering, block laying, rendering, and general finishing works.

Not ideal for heavy structural elements.

42.5 Grade Cement

Medium to high strength.

Used for beams, slabs, columns, and general reinforced concrete works.

This is the most common grade used in building projects.

52.5 Grade Cement

Very high strength.

Mostly used in bridges, dams, highways, high-rise buildings, and heavy load structures.

Rarely needed for normal residential houses.

⚠️ Important: Don’t just pick cement because “it’s cheaper.” Use the right grade for the right work. For example, using 32.5 for decking or structural members can weaken your building in the long run.

THINGS TO DO IMMEDIATELY AFTER BUYING LAND

You’ve paid, collected documents, even snapped picture on the land. Now what?

1. Do a Deed of Assignment – It transfers ownership to you legally. Don't skip it.

2. Register your land – At the Land Registry. If it’s not registered, the law may not protect you.

3. Get your own survey done – Even if the seller shows you theirs. Be sure what you paid for.

4. Fence it, or at least mark it – That bush is someone else’s goldmine if left open.

5. Keep all your documents safe – Scan copies and keep originals secure. No go dey look for "photocopy" in 10 years.

Buy land like a future landlord, not a learner.
