HAPPY RETIREMENT Mrs. Deborah Funmilayo Alewu

Today we celebrate with Mummy as she takes a bow from active service.

I had the rare privilege of photographing mummy and during the process I'd learnt she'd served for 30 years as a Teacher.

In her own words; "My teaching journey was inspired by a desire to make a positive impact on young minds.

Over the years, I transitioned from traditional teaching methods to modern curricula that emphasized critical thinking and creativity.

While I faced challenges like paperwork and understanding diverse learning needs, my student-centred approach fostered an atmosphere of exploration and discovery.

Throughout my career, countless students in schools like Oriwu College, Ayangburen High School and even Ishawo High School, left a lasting impression on me.

And in turn, I constantly worked on my professional development to give them the best of me.

My retirement is marked by gratitude for a successful career that transformed me into a better communicator and listener.

My teaching journey is a testament to my dedication and the positive impact I've had on education."

Have you ever wondered the difference between a corporate headshot and a portrait?

Hold on, did you even know there was a difference between them?

Well, there IS a difference! And you’re NOT supposed to use them interchangeably.

What then is the difference between these 2 terms?

Stick around to find out!

First things first,

WHAT IS A CORPORATE HEADSHOT?

A headshot is a close-up photo of you, primarily containing your face and upper shoulders.

The main focus of a corporate headshot is to bring your professional side to life.

Your headshot is more like your digital business card.

So, if you’re looking forward to showcasing the professional you, go for a headshot.

This image in Picture A is a perfect example of a corporate headshot.

On the other hand, A PORTRAIT SHOT is more than just showing off your professional side.

A portrait shot captures your personality and interests in an image.

A portrait shot is more artistic…it tells a story…and it doesn’t just contain your face and upper shoulders (like the headshot)

Since it is a broader representation of your essence as an individual, it involves showing off your full body AND the background.

Picture B is what a portrait looks like

I mentioned earlier that these 2 CANNOT be used interchangeably…

In essence, As an employee your profile image with the right expressions have a long way in backing your listed qualities and achievements.

As a Professional, your profile image and expressions can give your audience an insight into your personality.

As a Team, it can provide a competitive edge by making your company appear more human and personable.

If you were asked to list out the 3 words that represents who you see or your personality, what would you say ?

One of the few questions I make sure to ask my clients when preparing for their Corporate Headshot session is "What would you say are the 3 words that describes you as a person" ?

Overtime, I've noticed people pause, take a deep breathe and become quiet for a long while before giving a response, some ask for some time to properly think about it. Why ?

Maybe because people usually don't get asked that question often or they haven't thought about it in a while, I'm not sure. But I have also found a few who seem to have their answer so quickly too.

Sometimes I encourage my clients to ask the 3 or 4 closest person to them, so they get an insight (because a few times what you think about yourself might be different from what those close to you see).

So in retrospect, what are the 3 words that describes you as a person ?
