Before alarm clock existed, people used nails and candle to wake up.
This is what they do—They light up a candle, and then place it on a metal. Then they perch the nails inside the candle. They knew how to calculate the burning time, so they put the nails in the right places. As the candle melts, the nails fall and then it make a noise, thereby waking its owner up.
This is called the Roman Alarm clock.

Elephants 🐘

Since they are the largest land animal, you may be tempted to think elephants can't walk without making noisy footsteps.
But the fact is: The soles of their feet is covered in a thick epidermal layer tissues that act like shock absorbers. This allows elephants to walk silently. Moreso, Elephants actually walk on the tips of their toes.

They have a very sensitive sense of smell, that they can smell water 3 miles away even if they can’t see it.

You can also know the age and size of an elephant by looking at its footprints.

Elephants don't have to learn how to swim. They just seem to "know" how to swim naturally. They are perfect swimmers.

Baby elephants are naturally born blind and would walk by their mothers guidance at the early stage.

They live up to 100 years.
