Belated Happy birthday Nimi. Cool. Calm. Collected. A six year old who sits at a chess board like a seasoned chess master. I was soooo impressed. The focus. The strategy. The quiet confidence. How did this even happen?

The first time I met Nimi, he was just six months old. A tiny baby with soft cheeks and curious eyes. And now look at him. Six years later. Thinking several moves ahead. Sitting in his brilliance so naturally.

It feels surreal. Watching a child grow from baby giggles to calculated chess moves. Watching his personality unfold gently and intentionally. Almost like it was always there, just waiting for time to reveal it.

There is something powerful about witnessing growth in real time. Seeing potential turn into presence. Baby steps turn into bold moves.

Same mind. Same energy. Six years of becoming.

What a gift it is to watch it happen.

Usually I’ll write about the child alone, and that’s because they are my actual clients lol. But today I want to talk about the relationship between Bira and Jada. It honestly felt like two besties came for a photosession. It was so beautiful to watch.

When Jada came into the studio, I had just stepped out. So for the first time in a while, I wasn’t the one opening the door to meet my client. I walked back in and there she was, all dressed. The very first thing I noticed was her BIG BRIGHT SMILE. She ran straight to me and gave me a hug. It felt so good 😂😂😂.

Jada is a runner! Her speed! My God 😂. It was difficult to grab her. She just could not keep still and I loved it a lot 😂😂😂. She would run off the backdrop and slide into tiny spaces. Chuckling. Giggling. Laughing.

Her shoot was such a fun one. Happy birthday darling. Shine SO bright! 💕

He laughed so easily. Big, bright, loud laughter.
Hadriel was such a breath of fresh air.

Once we discovered how much he loved being tickled,
that became our little cheat code.

When it was time to slow down, he surprised us.
Puzzles? Locked in.
Anything brain stimulating, full focus and hungry curiosity

Before I met Sha’ana, I already knew she was special. It was in the way her mum spoke about her, with so much warmth and so much pride.

When I first wrote her story slides, there were pieces of her journey I did not know yet. I did not know that Sha’ana’s parents had waited almost six years to meet her. Six years of hoping. Six years of holding on.

And suddenly everything made sense. The quiet strength she carries inside such a small body. The way she watches before she moves. The way she smiles like she already knows she is deeply loved.

If I could see how special she was from meeting her just once, imagine how her parents feel raising her every single day. I have never seen such a big personality in a child, especially not a two year old 😩 Bold. Soft. Present. Completely herself.

Sha’ana feels like a reminder that some stories take time before they begin. And when they finally arrive, they arrive full of light, laughter, and purpose.

To every parent still waiting, hold on gently. Love always finds its way home ❤️.

This is Ibi. 9 years old.
I first met her by the poolside.

During the dry season my husband and I would go swimming every Sunday. We became “regulars” there, and that’s how we met Ibi and her mum. We got talking, and when her mum heard I was a child photographer, she said, “You have to take pictures of Ibi.”

I looked at Ibi, and the moment her mum mentioned pictures, she gave me the widest grin. Right then, I knew this was going to be fun 😂.

Fast forward to the studio, she didn’t even need warming up. From the moment she stepped in, she started striking poses like she’d been modeling forever. Confident, Playful, Radiant.

Dear Ibi, never lose that spark. May your joy, boldness, and bright smile light up every room you walk into. 💗

This is Jaden.
A boy with the brightest smile and the most curious little mind.

He wasn’t scared of the camera one bit, he loved it! What had him thinking twice was the stool. He’d climb, test his balance, climb again, smile, then climb some more. That stool quickly became his bestie😩.He lifted it, leaned on it, hugged it and did everything except sit still on it. 😅

And through it all, he was careful. He didn’t want to fall. Smart guy.

We called his name a hundred times 😩! Jaden, look here! ”but sometimes he danced with his back to us, other times he just went about doing his thing. And that was the beauty of it. He was free. He was himself.

His mom , worried asked, “Will these pictures come out nice?”
I smiled 😃, I told her, “Of course….He’s being himself. That’s the story we want to tell.”
