I hadn’t seen her in almost a year. She’d moved back to Jos, life got busy, and we all just kept going. So when her call came in saying, “Jenny, I want a shoot this year, but it has to reflect home,” I knew this one would be different.
She came wearing the Berom attire, not for style, but for meaning. At 42, she’s lived enough life to know what truly matters: where you come from, who held you up, and the roots that still carry you. There’s a calm strength she wears so naturally, the kind life teaches through real battles and quiet victories.
This portrait is more than a birthday shoot.
It’s a woman standing in the fullness of her journey grounded, grateful, and still becoming.
Happy birthday, Kaneng.
Your story sits with weight, and I’m honoured to document it.
