NSCDC AND CHINESE EMBASSY STRENGTHEN BILATERAL TIES AND SECURITY PARTNERSHIP

In a bid to reinforce bilateral cooperation and strengthen internal security, the Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mini,OFR, accompanied by principal staff officers, paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Yu Dunhai, and key officials of the Chinese Embassy.

The strategic engagement focused on cementing the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and China, with particular emphasis on security collaboration, regulatory compliance within the mining sector, and human capacity development.

Prof. Audi commended the harmonious relationship between the Chinese Miners Association of Nigeria and the Corps, noting that collaborative efforts continue to yield positive results in maintaining order. Responding to discussions on mining activities, Ambassador Yu strongly emphasized that the Chinese Embassy maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward illegal mining operations in Nigeria.

The NSCDC leadership expressed profound appreciation to the Chinese government for offering foreign training opportunities to officers and men of the Corps in China. In response, Ambassador Yu assured the CG that additional training slots would be allocated to the Corps to further boost institutional capacity.

Furthermore, Ambassador Yu lauded Prof. Audi for delivering exceptional internal security results, particularly for ensuring the safety and protection of Chinese citizens residing in Nigeria.

He also highlighted the unique diplomatic synergy between the two nations, noting that both Nigeria and China share a common national milestone by celebrating their independence anniversaries on October 1st.

The visit concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepening diplomatic ties, fostering mutual economic growth, and ensuring a safe, secure environment for nationals of both countries.

Today, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, led senior management officers of the Corps on a strategic visit to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria to strengthen bilateral cooperation in personnel development and institutional capacity building.

Professor Audi appreciated the Chinese Government for its continued partnership with the Corps, particularly in personnel development, and called for sustained collaboration to expose NSCDC personnel to contemporary security practices, global best standards and emerging approaches to security management.

Responding, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, H.E. Yu Dunhai, reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting strategic initiatives that enhance institutional capacity. The engagement reflects the NSCDC’s commitment under the visionary leadership of Professor Audi to building stronger international partnerships that advance professionalism, operational effectiveness and the Corps’ capacity to fulfil its statutory mandate.

Today, I celebrate Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, a father, a mentor, and a leader whose influence goes beyond the office he occupies.

One of your favourite Latin maxims, “Nemo dat quod non habet”, meaning “No one can give what they do not have,” has always struck me as particularly meaningful when I think about mentorship and leadership. The values we impart, the wisdom we share, and the example we set must first come from who we are.

As a father and mentor, the opportunity to shape lives is one of the most enduring responsibilities anyone can have. As a leader, the example we leave behind often speaks long after the words have been forgotten.

Sir, I sincerely appreciate the lessons in responsibility, discipline, service, and commitment that your journey continues to offer.

On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you wisdom, strength, sound health, and peace, and blesses you with many more years of purposeful service.

May this new chapter bring you and your family greater joy, renewed strength, and many meaningful accomplishments.

The CG Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) of the NSCDC has cracked down on a power cable vandalism syndicate, reaffirming the Corps’ unwavering resolve to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.

Vandalism is not just theft, it is a direct threat to development, public safety and the wellbeing of communities.

The message is clear: those who sabotage national infrastructure will be found, stopped and brought to justice.
