We got knocked in the face (in a good way) last night by , who were one of the opening acts at for ’s show.

This is a look at “Kau”, an original song of theirs that’s seriously crunchy.

The best nights are the ones that leave you going “wtf did I just watch?”, and these dudes embodied it. Great chops, great showmanship, but most importantly: a great load of fun to watch. 💪🏻

Markiza and her dearly departed husband, Hassan Peter Brown, were revolutionary and pivotal to local indie music for decades. Despite their advanced years, they still came to all the shows, played at all the gigs and wholeheartedly gave everyone their support.

Markiza is still very much up and at it, sharing her passion for music and the songs that she and Hassan wrote in the hope that they will continue to do good, make a difference and open minds. Focused on eco- and political activism, social justice and equality, their tunes are fun, optimistic but also truthful.

She recently assembled a crew of musicians and voices to join her (along with her son, Rashid on drums), for a full show at .

This is a short look at one of our favourites: “Like a Polar Bear”, a song about a big furry friend who’s literally standing on thin ice.

They’d taken some time off, but it’s very heartening to know that they’re back, and that they’re coming to Big Mic Out. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

It’s been a year of Big Mic Out at , and we’re inviting you to join our anti-party party (we assure you, we’re happy inside). 🕺🏻

To celebrate things, we’ve got a whole load of debuts to unleash upon an unsuspecting populace. First off, making an epic, epic return after a hiatus of what feels like an ETERNITY (like, it’s been literal years, y’all) are the ambient popsters ! They’re joined by fellow BMO first-timers , , , and (ADMDJ). 🎙️

And rounding out the lineup (and making her return to the BMO stage) is acoustic pop ingenue .ryl! ❤️

Want in but couldn’t make it to the initial sign-up? We still have room for you if you’re willing to wait it out and join our jam session after the last featured performer plays.

As always, the audience entry requirement is RM30, which goes straight to your food and beverages. It supports the venue, and also ensures that we get to keep on doing what we do. 🍔🥤🍛
