Valaikappu is one of the oldest and most cherished South Indian traditions celebrating motherhood and new beginnings.

Rooted deeply in Tamil culture, the ceremony is usually held during the later stages of pregnancy, where the mother-to-be is adorned with colorful bangles, flowers, and traditional attire while family and loved ones gather to bless both mother and child.

The word “Valaikappu” comes from:
“Valai” — bangles
“Kappu” — protection

Traditionally, the sound of the bangles is believed to bring comfort and positivity to the baby in the womb, while the prayers and rituals symbolize protection, health, abundance, and safe delivery.

More than just a celebration,
Valaikappu is a moment where generations come together —
honouring motherhood, family, culture, and the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. ✨
