Here’s the behind-the-scenes video. The initial idea was to have fingers playing along to the chords and, magically, the cups would appear — but I got stuck figuring out the proper ex*****on. Somehow, these lines just appeared in my head, and I transformed that idea into lipsticks instead

The whole process was about trying to sync everything to the piano chords, which I think turned out quite nicely. This one was shot at 24fps and came up to over 600 frames

I’d love to collaborate with beauty brands that are open to experimenting with stop-motion. DM me.

Turning sound into movement.
This stop-motion piece was built frame-by-frame around the iconic piano notes from “Children” by Robert Miles —

I was stuck on this piece for a few days. The initial idea didn’t involve the lipsticks at all — classic case of overthinking.

Made a few mistakes along the way and ended up reshooting it twice. Good practice for creating something even better in the future

Posting this now since most Malaysians will be busy with holidays and CNY prep next week.

Here’s a short BTS of making the paper horse stop-motion. No Cricut machine, so I cut every horse by hand — luckily, only 12 of them 😌

In this edit, I added the horse galloping sound and an eagle flying across the screen. Why eagle sound? If you watched 80s TVB wuxia dramas, you’ll know… there’s always an eagle sound somewhere in the music or scenes 😂

I picked this track from Back to the Past because it’s epic and not the usual CNY song you hear everywhere.

It may be a little early, but many Malaysians start heading back to their hometown tomorrow (Wednesday), with peak travel from Friday to the weekend.

A simple paper horse, galloping into Chinese New Year 2026 🐎
Music from Back to the Past, a movie that’s very popular now.

For everyone travelling home, wishing you a safe journey and an early Happy Chinese New Year! See you again next week.
