Pulau Weh’s underwater hot springs—often called the "Volcano Dive Site"—are located in the sheltered Pria Laot Bay on the southwestern coast of the island. It features a unique, shallow underwater "whirlpool bath" where volcanic vents release thousands of warm bubbles from the sandy seabed.

Many people who come to Sabah for diving usually head straight to Kota Kinabalu or Sipadan.
But if you travel further north, you’ll find a place that’s rarely talked about — Kota Belud

The ocean here feels… quiet.

There are no boats lining up to drop divers, and no crowds gathering at a single dive site.
Sometimes, it’s just you and your buddy in the entire area.

The underwater experience is different too.
It’s not the kind that immediately feels “spectacular” at first glance — but the longer you stay, the more you appreciate it.

The coral is in good condition, especially the soft coral areas, and everything feels very natural.
The topography is relatively simple, mostly reef flats and gentle slopes, so it’s easy to navigate without much pressure.

If you enjoy taking your time underwater, this place suits you better.
There’s actually a good amount of macro life — just not the kind that presents itself right in front of you. It takes a bit of patience to find.

Fish schools aren’t overwhelming, but the ecosystem feels complete.
It’s more like you’ve entered their environment, rather than things being “put on display” for you.

Many divers come out of the water with the same feeling:
It’s not about how much you saw — it’s about truly spending time in the ocean.

If you’re new to diving, this is a great place to work on your stability and breathing.
If you’re experienced, it’s where you can reconnect with the fundamentals of diving.

It’s not a popular spot — but it feels real.
