Colorization of fashionable woman holding a parasol, posing for her photograph at the Poole studio in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada in1878. She is wearing a lot of jewelry; her earrings, collar pin, ring, and a chain on her jacket are quite evident. She is also wearing half gloves and holding a purse. The woman is exhibiting an “all business” expression. Printing on the reverse of the cabinet card notes that the studio was located on St. Paul Street and the studio had received an “Honorable Mention” award at the Paris exposition in 1878. Edwin Poole was born in Abington, England and educated in London. He emigrated to Canada in 1866 and moved to St. Catharines in 1876. In 1900 he opened a photography studio. His work was published in the Toronto Globe and he won many photographic awards during his career. He retired in 1921 and died in St. Catharines in 1931.

"Colorization of portrait of Cyril Wilde with his mother Constance in 1889. Cyril is 4 years old in this charming photo.
Cyril Holland (born Cyril Wilde, 5 June 1885 – 9 May 1915) was the older of the two sons of Oscar Wilde and Constance Lloyd and brother to Vyvyan Holland.
According to Vyvyan Holland’s accounts in his autobiography, Son of Oscar Wilde, Oscar was a devoted and loving father to his two sons and their childhood was a relatively happy one.
However, after Wilde's imprisonment for gross indecency in 1895, Constance chose to take on the surname Holland for both the boys and herself. She took the boys to Switzerland and then enrolled them in an English-speaking school in Germany. Oscar Wilde never saw either of his sons again.
From 1899 to 1903 Cyril attended Radley College.
After leaving school he became a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Field Artillery, on 20 December 1905. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 20 December 1908 and served in the United Kingdom until he was posted to India, where he served from September 1911 until 1914 with No. 9 Ammunition Column, RFA at Secunderabad. He was promoted to Captain on 30 October 1914.
When the First World War broke out, Captain Holland was posted back to Europe and took part in the battle for Neuve-Chapelle, where he was killed by a German sniper on 9 May 1915, during the Battle of Festubert. He is buried at St Vaast Post Military Cemetery, Richebourg-l'Avoué"

Colorization of photo of beautiful lady from Sweden taken in 1918 in America. Her name is Ellen Maria Nilsson. She was about 30 y/o at the time. Her Naturalizaton papers state she was white, fair complextion, blue eyes and brown hair color.

Colorization of lady from Franzensbad, Czechoslovakia. Printed on the reverse of the cabinet card is the name “Bernard Wachtl”. Wachtl was an Austrian lithographer whose printing firm was located in Vienna. He was active mainly in the latter half of the 19th century. He designed and printed the logos of photographic studios that were printed on the verso of cabinet cards.
