These videos represent more than just lost work.
For over 6 months, my husband and I planned our lives around this wedding. We blocked our calendar, turned away other opportunities, planned an entire trip together, and invested our time, energy, and hearts into showing up fully for this client.
Then, less than 8 weeks before the wedding, everything changed.
While still under contract with us, another deal was made behind the scenes. A photographer “offered her $10,000” to photograph HER WEDDING — and after accepting that deal behind our back, she canceled her contract with us.
In the process, we lost the remainder of the income we had reserved for our family and business after holding those dates exclusively for MONTHS.
This post isn’t about bitterness. It’s about awareness.
Vendors are not placeholders until a “better opportunity” comes along. Behind every booking is a real family, real bills, real sacrifices, and real people arranging their lives around commitments that were agreed to in good faith.
Being an influencer should never excuse disrespecting small businesses or disregarding legally signed commitments. Especially when one party walks away with $10,000 while the vendor left behind absorbs the financial loss.
Influence means nothing without integrity.
I’m sharing these videos because creatives and wedding vendors deserve to be treated with professionalism, honesty, and respect.
To every small business owner who has ever been treated as disposable: I see you.
