One of the first photos I took in Mexico. I would walk the famous Avenida Quinta every day to work, and I used to love passing by these ladies as they sold their wares, chatting amongst themselves and giggling as I raised the camera and snapped this photo. It appeared in our exhibition in Clifden Arts Festival 2018, "In the Belly Button of the Moon", titled "Chit Chatting".

CAMPO CORTEZ VISTAS / Birds in Flight: Caspian Terns take flight together, giving us the opportunity to see the black ends of their wings and their slightly larger body size. Swipe left to see the moment before they took off, sitting by the shore line, now we see their dark orange bills and broad, black caps on their head.

Gray Whales in San Ignacio Lagoon 💙 a female whale and her calf spy hopping (the calf copies the mother), a fluke (whale tail) and a calf playing in water…. Some of my favourites!

It's been a joy to spend some much time with the gray whales in San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja Sur. I have gathered quite a collection of photos over the years! I like to think each photo represents a different moment, behaviour, style, emotion.... These photos were taken on my Nikon D600 with an 18-65ml lens.

Gray Whale Calf in Silky Water 💧 I took this photo in March 2020 on board .
It was a flat, calm afternoon and the water, as you can see, was incredible, like silk!
And this calf (who was already 2 months old by this point) was so playful and so wanted to practice its spy hopping. A good memory!

It’s Mother’s Day here in Mexico. Makes me think of this little gray whale calf imitating his Mum, trying out his spyhopping skills, all earnest and keen and cute.

Dedicated to all the tireless Mothers out there, who work hard to bring up their little calves to be the best that they can. Love you Mamas ❤️
