Dansum,
beyond Khaplu in Baltistan, lies near the Saltoro and Kondus valleys of the Karakoram—a landscape of glaciers, rivers and towering rock walls. Kondus is especially striking for its granite towers. Among the village’s fields and orchards, apricots drying on rooftops add a softer colour: summer’s orange, being saved for winter.
