SURVEY TIME -- updated! I have tried to incorporate your suggestions regarding the previous image as I processed this different frame from the same place -- the English Cemetery at El Triunfo. Your opinions are solicited!

SURVEY TIME AGAIN! This frame has served as an exercise in composition. It was shot in El Triunfo a few weeks back. There's not much going on here except for the forms, and I've been trying to find the right balance of contrast and framing to squeeze the most out of it. So here are two different versions; one, I did upon returning from El Triunfo, the other, I did today (I'm not gonna say which one was first).
The Q is -- DO YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE? And if so, why?

Last night for the "La Marcha de las Catrinas," I pulled out my little speedlight and thought to work on the "balanced-fill flash" technique (long shutter speed, constricted amounts of flash) that I learned from Nevada Wier. I hadn't used this technique for TOO LONG, so it took me most of the night to get it dialed in. The shifting ambient light also complicated things, but this sounds like I'm making excuses.
All to say that here is the shot I wanted, and although it falls short of the RESULT I wanted, I'm not totally unhappy with it. Your thoughts, friends?

I usually process raw files to faithfully represent the scene as photographed. Sometimes, though, I allow myself some leeway, and it can be fun! Here, I wanted to highlight the cross-bracing "###," so the reds got hypersaturated; to me, it feels like an old postcard!

I'm sure I mentioned that I was initially unenthusiastic following the installation of the 72 lamp posts on the west side of the new art museum (Museo de Arte de BCS), but they have grown on me. They serve as a public foto gallery every night, and are a fine subject for studies of composition, framing, lighting, and other essentials of photography. Here is a quick shot from Sunday morning that I had great fun processing into monochrome. You can see that the taller globes are illuminated by the rising sun, but the shorter ones are not.
