George Probst is a wildlife photographer best known for his underwater great white shark imagery. All photos are shot and edited by George Probst.

SharkPix.com provides great white shark imagery shot on-location at Mexico's Isla de Guadalupe Biosphere Reserve from 2006 to 2021, prior to the closing of the island to tourism and diving. The goal of the site is to provide images of white sharks that go beyond the dramatic open-jaw shots that seem to dominate images of the species in the news media and entertainment industry. By providing "non-t

raditional' white shark imagery, viewers can gain a better perspective on the species and see a more representative picture of how the sharks spend their lives in the ocean, outside of just eating.

This is the time of year when white sharks should start arriving in bigger numbers at Guadalupe. I miss not knowing which sharks have returned to the island each year, but I hope they are all thriving.

Really missing these beauties. As many of you know Isla de Guadalupe has been inaccessible since 2021. I hope its amazing wildlife including the white shark population has been thriving over the past five years

Did you know individual white sharks can have their own "personality" or set of behaviors they follow. Some tend to avoid divers, while others can be more curious, and many are simply indifferent to our presence.

Brutus, emerging from a mass of mackerel scad (Decapterus macarellus).

Brutus is one of Guadalupe's male white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias). He has some permanent damage to tops of his front three gill slits on his right side that gives them a scalloped appearance.
