•• Meet the Pacific seahorse (aka Hippocampus ingens).
These seahorses can be found in shallow waters along the coast of the Sea of Cortez, as well as in deeper waters offshore.
They have the extraordinary ability to change color to blend in with their surroundings and like to camouflage around branches of gorgonians and black corals.
DID YOU KNOW?
Their genus name Hippocampus is derived from 2 Greek words : hippos, which means “horse” and campus, which means “sea monster.”

•• Meet the Olive ridley sea turtle (aka Lepidochelys olivacea).
This species of sea turtle is the second-smallest (growing up to 60cm/2ft and weighting up to 50kg/110pounds) and most abundant in our oceans, using the coastal waters of over 80 countries.
They can be found in tropical waters such as the Pacific and Indian Oceans, but also in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
DID YOU KNOW?
Female sea turtles return to the same beach from where they hatched, to lay their eggs. Baja California’s beaches are one of these nest areas.
Season starts in August to December but turtles start to arrive 2months before nesting season.

•Meet the sprawling Sea slug (aka Coryphellina marcusorum).
They can be found along the American continent from East Pacific to West Atlantic oceans, from Mexico to Brazil.
This sea slug, part of the Fabellina family, has translucent pink to orange body with very elongated cerata & rhinophores. Those are white and purple tipped which make them perfect for pictures !

The Bottlenose dolphins can be found in any warm to temperate salt waters all around the world (except the Arctic and Antarctic regions).
Their body colour varies from different shades of grey, growing up to 4m (13ft) long and weight an average of 300kg (660lbs).
DID YOU KNOW?
They are considered as very intelligent and emotional animals. They can transmit their knowledge from generations and interact a lot with humans. While diving, they are even called “evil dolphins” as they like interacting with divers and bringing them deeper than they should be! Watch your computer!!

They have a dark eye pupil with bands radiating around their iris.
Like many frogfish, this species can change color from yellow, red, purple to cream in order to camouflage with its background.

This species of shark is among the family of « small » shark which doesn’t grow above 1.6m (5.2ft).
They get their name due to their recognizable white tips over their caudal and dorsal fins.
DID YOU KNOW?
In order to breathe, Whitetip reef sharks don’t have to swim like other sharks. Instead, they pump water through their gills. That’s why you can often find them resting on the bottom or inside caves.

••Meet the Blue spiny lobster (aka Panulirus inflatus).
This nocturnal species can be found on rocky shallow reefs of the Mexican Pacific Ocean.
The spiny lobsters have no claws but a pair of large and spiny antennae. They are very colorful with white, pink, black carapace, a green abdomen with bands, and blue tipped legs.
DID YOU KNOW?
Like many of their gender, the female spiny lobster will carry the eggs (around several hundred thousand) under its abdomen.

••Meet the Galapagos shark (aka Carcharhinus galapagensis).
This solitary shark lives in the Southern Pacific ocean, near the coast of Mexico to Panama. They also can be found in small schools over rocky/wall reefs.
They have a greyish body with white belly, a tall and pointed dorsal fin, long pectoral fins and a ridge on its dorsal fin.

Usually, the top of the manta’s back is black, the tips of their fins and shoulders are white.
However, some mantas can be completely black or white in color.
In general, the marking of each manta is unique on the bottom/belly. Meanong that two rays can’t appear exactly alike.

•• Meet the Giant oceanic manta ray (aka Mobula birostris).
They live all around the world’s tropical waters, closed to coastal areas and cleaning stations.
This giant manta ray is the largest type in the world. They can measure up to 9m (30ft) in length and weight over 3000kg (6,6k lb) for adults.
DID YOU KNOW?
Due to their large size, they have few natural predators interested in them like big sharks or orcas. But their population is still decreasing and are endangered species (due to overfishing, pollution, climate change and tourism).
