For despite what life has done to me, I will remain caring. I will not allow the cold uncaring universe to turn me into its reflection.

Am I lonely? Yes.
Am I alone? Not really.
Do I want friends? Yes.
Do I do a good job of texting my current online friends? Absolutely not.
One day I shall have the energy.
That day is not today.

This is an older shot from three years ago when I got my first camera.
Was still pretty new to the whole composition thing. Hope you guys like regardless.

How do I sleep, with Death on my mind?
Her cold embrace, calling to me
Unsure of what I might find,
If upon seeing her face, I don't turn to flee.

Maybe one day, I'll join her.

Got diagnosed with mild OCD at my last psychiatry appointment. Wasn't surprising but at one point my psychiatrist asked me what my end goal was.
I told her photography ideally, but really it was just a reactionary response to get her off of my back because she said it in an accusary tone. As if I should be all better now after 7+ years of seeing this provider. As if Major Depressive Disorder is something you just get over.
To be honest though, that was the wrong answer.
Because what I should've said was the following:
I'm just trying to survive at the moment.
Because you can't help or be of service to anyone if you're drowning.
So first I have to fight my way to shore before anything else.
You hear all this talk about healing and stuff, and although people make it seem like it's a one time thing to heal from trauma, the reality is I don't think I'll ever stop having to heal even after I reach the shoreline.
Sure, once my feet hit the sand it'll be easier to keep going forward. But the journey doesn't end there.
So for now that's my plan. Just survive.

Sometimes I will make a decision so stupid it's impressive.
Honestly. Do I regret those decisions? Sure, sometimes.
But most of the time, bar a few that made my life worse, I look back and realize how much more I would've regretted not having made those decisions.
And I think that's a common theme in life.
Still, you can't live out both sides of a decision. The moment you make one, the other is forfeited.
Unless we somehow find a way to technologically create our own personal simulations to test out these different decisions, that will forever be a fact of Life.
Thanks for listening.

Sometimes when things get heavy, it's important to remember.
Remember what it's like to sit outside. Listening to the birds. Feeling the breeze pass by. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.
In these moments, I remember what it means to truly be Alive.
Do not wait for happiness to come, as it is not a destination but what you experience on your journey in this thing we call Life.
Our realitiss will always be in a constant state of flux.
It's up to us to slow down, look up, and practice gratefulness.

Sometimes when everything feels big, it helps for me to look up and remind myself that my problems aren't the end of the world, and despite the difficulties I face, maybe it will be alright.
Doesn't mean my problems go away, but a mindset change really can make all the difference in terms of being willing to keep pushing forward.
