Accessible Legislation Video – General Elections Act

Prior to the 2023 Presidential Election, we produced a one-hour accessible legislation video for the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM), in collaboration with IFES, based on a summarized version of the General Elections Act. The video presented key provisions of the law in a clear and structured format, making it easier to understand and interpret.

Combining live-action sign language interpretation with motion graphics, on-screen text, and audio narration, the video was designed to be inclusive and accessible to a wide range of audiences, including persons with hearing and visual impairments. The final output translated complex legal content into an engaging and easy-to-follow format.

In 2024, to mark International Sign Language Day on 23 September, we created four social media videos for the Power to Persuade campaign highlighting lesser known facts about sign language and why it matters.

Each video features a sign language user signing the facts on screen, supported by voice over and subtitles to ensure accessibility across audiences.

The aim was to raise awareness, challenge common misconceptions, and encourage more people to learn sign language, because communication should be inclusive, expressive, and accessible to all.

Live Action Video – Rights Side of Life

In 2024, we produced a 4-minute live-action video for the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, based on findings from the Rights Side of Life baseline human rights survey.

Combining filmed interviews with clear infographics, the video translated key survey findings into an engaging and easy-to-understand visual story. The narrative presents the data in a relatable way while maintaining accuracy and clarity.

Ran Kakida managed the full production process, including scripting, filming, editing, and graphics integration. The final video was delivered with subtitles and sign language interpretation to ensure accessibility for a wider audience.

First day of ramadan 1447

Roadha Kurukurun in Dhivehi means to shorten the fast. It’s a commonly used term for doing something entertaining to make the time pass faster while fasting, especially during the evening right before iftar. This often includes flying a kite, taking walks, going for rides, playing games, taking naps, and exchanging food. The few hours before iftar are either Roadha Kurukurun or complete chaos in the kitchen.

Motion Graphics – Power to Persuade Campaign

To visually communicate key messages around accessibility and inclusion, we created seven motion graphic videos for the Power to Persuade campaign.

These bright and colorful animations explained topics such as involving persons with disabilities in election-related advisory committees, ensuring accessible public information, and training election officials to communicate effectively with everyone. Each video included English subtitles and sign language interpretation, ensuring accessibility across audiences.

The motion graphics added vibrancy to the campaign while simplifying complex policy ideas into clear, engaging, and inclusive visuals.
