🏡 From an empty apartment to a home you can imagine yourself living in…

A little over a week ago, I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful apartment in Medernach for its owners — and I’m very happy to say that they were absolutely delighted with the result. 😊

There was one interesting challenge: the apartment was already completely empty.

From a real-estate photography point of view, that’s actually great because potential buyers can clearly see the real space, proportions and layout without anything getting in the way. But an empty room can sometimes make it difficult to imagine what living there might actually feel like.

So for this project, I offered the owners a little something extra.

Alongside the photographs showing the apartment exactly as it really is, I created a selection of AI-generated furnished examples based on my original photographs. These are clearly identified as such and are intended purely as visual inspiration.

That way, potential buyers get the best of both worlds:
📷 the genuine, unfurnished apartment
🛋️ plus an example of how those same spaces could look once turned into a home.

What a day. What a couple. ❤️

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of accompanying Tammy Ft & Eric as they said “I do” at the magnificent Villa Borg in Perl. 💍🥂

Now, the weather apparently decided that a wedding photographer shouldn’t have things too easy, so we were treated to the occasional bit of rain… ranging from “oh, that’s nothing” to “right, everybody under cover!” 😅🌧️

But somehow we managed to stay dry — mostly — and it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.

Because when you have a gorgeous couple, a stunning location and, ahem… a brilliant photographer 😇📸, you already have a pretty good recipe for some wonderful photographs.

Add to that an absolutely marvellous group of family and friends, plenty of genuine laughter, lovely conversations and a whole lot of warmth, and it becomes the kind of wedding day that is simply a joy to document

Today was spent importing the photographs and putting together something I always love creating for my wedding couples: a special preview gallery with some carefully edited favourites from their day. A little something to relive those first memories while the complete wedding story is still being lovingly edited. ❤️

Thank you for trusting me to accompany you on such an important day. I hope these first few photographs already bring back the smiles, the laughter and all those little moments that made yesterday yours.

🎺🎸 Two bands, two very different sounds… and two excellent reasons why I love discovering music at eLake.

First up: Hunneg-Strëpp.

They’ve certainly been around long enough that I really should have caught them live before now. Somehow, though, eLake 2026 was my first proper encounter with them — and apparently I had been missing out. 😅

Calling them simply a “brass band” feels almost unfair. There’s brass, yes… lots of it. But there’s also movement, humour, personality and a completely infectious party atmosphere. At one point the stage clearly wasn’t enough anymore and the music simply wandered off into the crowd. 😄🎺

Watching them immediately gave me the same feeling I get with Schëppe Siwen: that wonderful kind of band where it becomes almost impossible to remain a passive spectator. You don’t just watch the performance — you somehow become part of it.

And then came Deep Dive Culture. 🎸🔥

Completely unknown to me before this year’s festival.

That didn’t last very long.

Sometimes you discover a band without any expectations whatsoever, listen for a couple of minutes… and suddenly find yourself paying considerably more attention than originally planned. Their sound, their stage presence and the sheer visual energy of the performance made them one of my personal surprise discoveries of this year’s eLake.

They’ve now earned themselves a spot on my “bands-to-watch” list — which is becoming increasingly dangerous for my free evenings. 😂

This is exactly why I enjoy photographing festivals so much. Of course it’s great to see familiar artists again, but there’s something particularly satisfying about walking towards a stage thinking “Who are these?”…

…and walking away thinking “Right. I definitely want to see them again.” ❤️

There are photo shoots… and then there are photo shoots where your subjects demand payment in blackberries before agreeing to participate. 😂🐴🐾

After two fairly busy weeks photographing eLake, an apartment and various other things, my wife reminded me — quite rightly! — that it had been a while since I had turned the camera towards the furry members of our own family. 🥰

So last Saturday afternoon we came up with a very simple plan:

Take a few portraits of Sheera and Idefix, then head out for a nice walk with Filou, our Shetland pony, and Blacky, our Mini Shetland.

A flawless plan.

On paper. 😅

The cats immediately made it clear that being picked up and posed for cuddly portraits was beneath them, so I simply followed them around and photographed whatever they graciously allowed me to witness.

Then came the ponies.

Apparently it was too warm for walking.
Apparently walking for the sole purpose of making the photographer happy is not a recognised pony activity.
And apparently the situation improves dramatically when blackberries enter the discussion. 😂

So instead of the elegant little pony walk I had envisioned, we ended up with snack negotiations, very convincing “but I’m starving!” expressions and plenty of character.

And somewhere in between all of that, there was also the little feline stare-off you can see in the pictures.

I have no idea what was being discussed.

Judging by their faces, probably territory or world domination. 🤪

In the end, I stopped worrying about creating anything particularly portfolio-worthy and simply enjoyed documenting an afternoon with our own little furry family.

Because photographs don’t always have to be about creating the perfect image.

Sometimes they’re simply about preserving the wonderfully imperfect moments you’ll want to remember. ❤️

Of course, this does not mean I have abandoned the idea of getting those portfolio shots.

I shall simply attempt another round of negotiations at a later date.

And bring more blackberries. 😅😉

And just like that… e-Lake festival 2026 is a wrap. ❤️🎶

After three days filled with music, people, atmosphere and more photographic opportunities than I could possibly count, the 30th anniversary edition of eLake came to an end yesterday — and Sunday certainly didn’t intend to leave quietly. 😄

Three bands in particular found their way into this little selection: Dream Catcher, The Disliked and Schëppe Siwen.

And yes… The Disliked may perhaps want to reconsider that name. 😉
Judging by the enthusiasm in front of the stage — including one particularly adorable little fan enjoying the concert from the best seat in the house on her parent’s shoulders — there didn’t seem to be much disliking going on at all. 🥰🤘

That is one of the things I love so much about festivals like eLake: music brings together people who might otherwise have very little in common. Different generations, different backgrounds, completely different tastes… and suddenly everybody is sharing the same moment.

Dreamcatcher delivered one of those moments in spectacular fashion when John Rech spotted a hen party near the stage. Instead of merely acknowledging them from afar, he climbed over the barrier, joined them in the crowd and had the bride-to-be and her friends singing along with him. 🎤👰‍♀️

No staging. No planning. Just pure festival spontaneity — and fortunately, a photographer standing nearby. 😉📷

And then came Schëppe Siwen.

Oh boy. 😅🔥

I had been looking forward to photographing them, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Explosive energy, wonderful characters, brilliant musicianship and enough movement on stage to keep my camera very, very busy. 😂

Those are precisely the performances I love shooting: the ones where something is happening everywhere and you constantly have to decide where to point the camera next.

These photographs are still only a first glimpse — my editing queue is looking rather impressive right now 😅 — so plenty more from eLake will follow over the coming days.

For now though: thank you, eLake, for one magnificent 30th anniversary edition. ❤️

Three days. Countless moments. And a ridiculous number of photographs waiting to be edited.

Wouldn’t have it any other way. 😉📷🎶

Meet the eLakers. ❤️

Saturday at e-Lake festival may officially be the EDM day, but for me, the real stars were once again the people attending it.

Because this is what I love about festivals: you can spend hours photographing what happens on stage, but sometimes the most interesting stories are unfolding just a few metres away.

Friends meeting up.
Strangers becoming friends.
People dancing like nobody is watching.
People very clearly knowing that somebody is watching… and absolutely making the most of it. 😄
Couples relaxing in the evening sun.
Outfits that deserve their own round of applause.
And, apparently, even Superman dropping by for a dance. 😉

What struck me most, though, was once again just how wonderfully diverse the crowd was.

Different ages, nationalities, backgrounds, styles, identities and tastes, all sharing the same space and simply having a good time together. Nobody needs to look the same, think the same or come from the same place.

And that, to me, is one of the most beautiful things about e-Lake.

While language may sometimes be a barrier, kindness never is. ❤️

Perhaps that is also why I enjoy photographing people so much. A festival crowd is never just “the audience”. It is hundreds of little stories, friendships, personalities and moments happening simultaneously — and all I have to do is keep my eyes open and try to catch a few of them. 📸

So once again: here’s to the eLakers — the colourful, cheerful, slightly crazy and thoroughly lovely bunch who make the festival what it is. 🥰

And now it’s time for the final day… with Luxembourgish bands taking over the stages. 🇱🇺🤩

🎶 Back at e-Lake… finally! 🤩🎸

After a wonderful week in Scotland, I arrived back in Luxembourg yesterday afternoon, barely had time to unpack… and headed pretty much straight to e-Lake festival in Ville d'Echternach. 😅

And after not having photographed e-Lake since 2019, I can safely say: I missed this. A lot. 🥰

Day one was everything I hoped it would be.

There were bands I already knew and was delighted to see again, new discoveries that immediately made me wonder how I had managed to miss them until now, and musicians across the board giving it absolutely everything on stage. 🎷🎺🎸🥁

But one of the things I have always loved most about e-Lake is that the story doesn’t stop at the edge of the stage.

Turn the camera around and there is a whole other show happening: people singing along, dancing, cheering, filming their favourite moments, dressing up, laughing with friends and simply having an absolutely brilliant summer evening together. ❤️

That combination of music, atmosphere and people is what makes photographing a festival like this so much fun for me. The big stage moments are fantastic, of course — but sometimes it’s the grin in the crowd, the raised fist, the slightly bonkers illuminated mask or a couple of friends enjoying the evening that really tells you what it felt like to be there. 📸

So here’s a little selection from Day One of e-Lake 2026 — both sides of the barrier included. 😉

And now… the cameras are charged, the memory cards are empty again, and I’m off for Day Two. 😎🔥

👑 A princess, her royal bodyguard… and a brief interruption of official proceedings 🧸

During Annemie’s family shoot last Monday, little Alice quite understandably felt that she was not receiving the attention every princess and full-time bear keeper is entitled to. 😄

She therefore decided to put the shoot on hold for a moment, ignore the rest of us and discuss the matter privately with her trusted royal bodyguard, Bäri. Judging by the cuddle, I believe the situation was handled with the utmost professionalism. 🥰

This session was particularly special to me. I have known Annemie for around 15 years and was previously fortunate enough to photograph both her wedding and her pregnancy. Although we lost touch for a while, we recently reconnected at Nadine’s 39+1 birthday party — and it felt wonderful to pick up where we had left off.

Seeing Annemie’s beautiful children now grown into such lovable, energetic little goofballs, each with their own wonderfully distinct personality, made this family shoot so much more than another assignment. It was a chance to preserve a precious chapter in the story of a family I have known for many years. ❤️

Because children grow quickly, but photographs allow us to hold on to these moments forever.

Last Friday brought together several things I would never necessarily have expected to experience during the same outing: my first-ever off-road Jeep drive, a fascinating history lesson, hidden places deep inside the forest and one of the most beautiful sunsets I have witnessed in quite some time. 🌲🛞🌅

Our adventure began in the woods near Haller, where we travelled along narrow forest tracks in a historic Jeep before continuing on foot to a secluded bunker.

During the Second World War, places such as this offered shelter to forced-conscript evaders and other people who were being hunted. Standing there, surrounded by rocks, trees and complete silence, it was difficult not to imagine the fear, uncertainty and courage experienced by those who once relied upon these hidden places for survival.

Afterwards, we drove to a wonderful viewpoint above the road towards Ermsdorf. The landscape already looked beautiful when we arrived, but the sky gradually transformed into something truly spectacular. Watching the sunset from beside the Jeep — with miles of countryside stretching out before us — was one of those moments that makes you forget everything else for a while.

As darkness began to settle in, our journey continued back into the woods, where a second hiding place awaited us even farther from view. The Jeep’s headlights cutting through the forest added an almost cinematic final chapter to an already unforgettable evening.

It was an awe-inspiring combination of history, nature and adventure — and one I am incredibly grateful to have experienced and photographed.

I’m now editing photographs from Saturday’s CGDIS event, followed by yesterday evening’s lovely family session at sunset. From wartime history and off-road Jeeps to emergency services and family memories… I really do love the variety this work brings me. 😄

Nelly and Niobe: airborne and absolutely unstoppable! 🤣🐾

After photographing them informally during one of my recent equipment tests, I had the pleasure of meeting Nelly and Niobe again for a proper session at the lake in Echternach—and this time, the two ladies certainly brought their A-game!

Nelly, the wonderfully expressive Basset Hound, and Niobe, the young White Swiss Shepherd, could hardly be more different in appearance. Yet when it comes to enthusiasm, mischief and charging towards the camera at full speed, they are clearly a perfectly matched team. 🥰

Selecting the final photographs was no easy task. Even the smallest change in expression or ear position seemed to create an entirely new image worth keeping. Nevertheless, I somehow managed to reduce the session to 47 final photographs.

This one immediately made me smile: four paws off the ground, ears flying in every possible direction and two very happy dogs thoroughly enjoying their adventure together. That is exactly the kind of joyful, unscripted moment I love capturing.

I’ll be sharing more from the session in a blog post soon—and also telling the story of how approaching strangers and politely asking whether you may photograph their dogs can sometimes be the beginning of a lovely new friendship. 😊
