I did all my studies and worked for years in Amsterdam, and am fortunate now to have lived and worked for more than 10 years in Luxembourg with my wife, our three boys and our cat and dog. I wake up every day thrilled and feeling pretty damned lucky to spend my day doing something different. One day I might be working on an architectural assignment, a wedding or a formal portrait session and the
next day on a family shoot in my studio, or an event for one of my clients. I’ve been taking pictures my entire life. For me, a picture must not only be pleasing to the eye, but it should also have content which is strong enough to evoke an emotional response from the viewer. For more than 30 years, photography has been my life, my sole source of income and my number one passion, my satisfaction derives from being involved with my camera, making beautiful pictures. My style of photography leads to photos of real places, real events, real people, where the characters command the foreground. For me a wedding is a once in a lifetime event that should be photographed quietly, sympathetically, and without the photographer dictating what happens in front of the lens. Out of respect for the day, I prefer to record it in such a way as to produce images which are honest and truthful, and can be enjoyed for generations to come. On the wedding day I set myself the challenge of finding pictures without too much directing, and by mostly using the available light. I’m inspired by genuine people, places, creative collaborations, your story, your life, music by Joep Beving, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, my kids, my 30 year old Ritmo Cabrio, good wine, my wife, good food, a beam of warm sunlight on my face, Ireland, long walks along the sea, good whiskey, the remains of the day, Moroccan tea, a long, hot shower, architecture, Jeff Ascough, your crazy ideas……
I can’t wait to hear from you, and many thanks for your interest in my work.
