Sometimes, less colour means more atmosphere.

Smoke over eastern Luxembourg 🌫️

Drone footage from yesterday at around 6 PM, filmed above the area between Osweiler, Manertchen and the Monsanto industrial zone, close to Echternach.

The footage clearly shows how widespread the smoke and haze from the wildfires across the Greater Region had become. The entire landscape was covered by a dense grey layer, dramatically reducing visibility.

The smell of smoke was extremely intense. Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed and, as a precaution, to keep pets and other animals indoors.

Smoke over the Luxembourg countryside 🌫️

This short drone rotation was filmed yesterday at around 6 PM above Geyershof, near Scheidgen and Bech.

Looking across the valley towards Berbourg, you can clearly see how the smoke from the wildfires across the Greater Region had completely covered the landscape in a thick haze.

An unusual and almost surreal view of a normally clear summer landscape.

Sunset over Junglinster 🌅

A very special sunset over Junglinster this evening. Smoke from the wildfires currently being carried across our region created a clearly visible layer of haze along the horizon.

The low sun, the smoke and the spectacular clouds combined to create a truly unique atmosphere.
