Rathna Ella, also known as Rathana Falls, is one of the tallest and most impressive waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Located in the small village of Mahiyangana in the Badulla District, Rathna Ella plunges dramatically from a height of around 101 meters (approximately 331 feet), making it a breathtaking sight for those who visit.

The waterfall is nestled within a dense forest, surrounded by lush greenery, and the journey to reach it typically involves a scenic hike through the natural landscape, passing through paddy fields, tea plantations, and local villages. The name "Rathna Ella" is believed to have derived from a local legend, where "Rathna" refers to gems, as the area was historically known for its gemstone deposits.

Rathna Ella is part of the Hasalaka Oya, a tributary of the Mahaweli River, Sri Lanka's longest river. Due to its relatively remote location, Rathna Ella remains less frequented by tourists, making it a peaceful and unspoiled spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The waterfall is especially magnificent during the rainy season when the water flow is at its most powerful. Visiting Rathna Ella offers not only the chance to witness its natural beauty but also an opportunity to experience the tranquility of Sri Lanka's rural countryside.

Baker's Falls is a stunning waterfall located in the heart of the Horton Plains National Park in Sri Lanka. Named after the British explorer Sir Samuel Baker, who played a significant role in popularizing the region during the 19th century, this waterfall is one of the key attractions in the park. The falls cascade down from a height of about 20 meters (66 feet) amidst a lush landscape of dense forests, ferns, and rhododendrons, creating a tranquil and picturesque scene.

To reach Baker's Falls, visitors typically embark on a trek through the misty Horton Plains, often starting from the World's End trail. The journey to the falls is as enchanting as the destination itself, with opportunities to observe the park's diverse flora and fauna. The falls are particularly captivating during the rainy season when the water flow is at its peak. Baker's Falls is not only a favorite spot for nature lovers and photographers but also holds a special place in the hearts of those who appreciate the serene beauty of Sri Lanka's highlands.
